When is the Pressure Gauge at 0 ???
Hi Guys
This might be stupid question but i picked up my red SS yesturday and noticed that when i start the car the boost gauge does not go to 0 instead it sits way on the bottom. The only time when it goes up is when i drive past 2500rpm but then it goes up over it. I know that the vacum is created when you let go of the gas and it goes below zero but I was under the impression that the gauge is supposed to read 0 when you just start the car???? Please help as i dont know if I should go back to the dealer and have it fixed or not.
Thanks

The gauge will read zero when the car is off because there is no vacuum. Once the car is started it will create a vacuum and drop down into the lower part of the gauge. Under light driving the gauge will read in the vacuum to 5psi normally, when you hit the throttle you'll get 10+ psi.
Don't think of that zero as zero psi, it's more like zero vacuum.

Thanks alot but if the guage when the car is on is lower then 5psi is that normal or no? and also if the car is off and the guage is not on zero then is that a defective guage problem?
Thanks in Advance

During idle, the needle will be well into the vacuum section of the gauge and will only show significant boost during revs when there is load on the engine (driving it on the road).
From the factory, the SC will boost 12psi, but I've hit 12.5 as with many others on this site. I don't know if the calibration is off on the gauge or the boost was underated just like the Cobalt's hp.

Ohh yaa sorry for the dumb questiuons but when the car is off it goes down to 60 again it only goes to zero when i start the car is that what you meant or is it supposed to be at zero when the car is completly off?
Thanks in advance
P.S.
I love the car
