I got a raise today. 1 whole dollar. I don't know if I'm just being ungrateful.
hat you guys think is a fair hourly wage for a Guy in a body shop?
Majored Auto Body in high school and been working in a shop for a year now? Having to buy all my own tools. The guys share some speciality tools with me but not much.

You said you majored in it, in high school? id say you'd be lucky to make 12-13 dollars a hour considering the guys that go to REAL school don't make that much more.
Thanks. Guess I'll try not to stress about it.
Also had to exchange a tool today and look what I found. Perfect timing.

I generally look for deals like this, and buy in advance to when I heed it - because if I wait till the last minute, I seem to generally only find it for >$50
on a related note, what do you guys use for filters?
I seem to have no consistent filter brand;
I know the Fram are not the best, but I flip-flop between Fram & Wix right now because they are the easiest to find...
... and hey, I'm Mennonite Brethren... I like to find deals/be a little cheap
Fram (regular): CH9018 @ Walmart = $6
Fram (tough guard): TG9018 @ Walmart = $12
Wix: 57082 @ Autovalue = $9 (iirc)
I try to avoid the tough guard ones, as I've understood they have impregnated Teflon - which makes it's way into your crank case...
and sticks around...
Thoughts?
ac delco is a good filter.
The best is the napa brand filters. cheap. good quality. All that jazz.
In the end it really makes a **** of difference.
Cars going in for warranty for the first time in like 2 years. lol

To become accredited in any trade, you ned that pice of paper that only post-secondary institutions give out...
Oil change bonkeys, lot bonkeys, and body shop bonkeys are about the bottom of the totem pole as far as the automotive industry goes... in both pay, and overall satisfaction...
so you had better love your job.
On a related note... and this might **** some of you off;
I was talking to this kid yesterday who works full-time at the Costco gas-bar by my house (all they do is show inept Costco members how to swipe their cards!) - he said that his job started at $12/hr;
After the 3 month(?) probationary period, they get a $0.50/hr raise;
After every 800hours there after, they get something like a $0.5/hr raise...
so he's making $13/hour with absolutely ZERO responsibility...
Sheesh.
Your "piston ring" is our "autovalue" iirc (as in it's the same franchise, but with an altered name becasue of provincial differences;
I don't think any retailers offer the delco filters in Calgary...
if they did, they would probably look to extort customers for being the only kids on the block...
iirc AC Delco filters are the same as Purolator ~ I know of one retailer clear across town which carried Purolator at a reasonable price...
I'm inclined to agree - which is why I normally use the crappy fram filters...
