Maybe, but i think i will have enough left in 3rd gear to finish her off, when i would cross with my 18's i was still only about 6000rpms

hmm, i seem to be almost redline crossing at 102 mph.
wheres that thread on the quaife 6 speed, someone did a bunch of calcs that seem pretty acurate.

yes, 112 mph @ 7000 rpm, (assuming tires are newish?)

the closer you can get the top of 3rd to your trap speed...the better.
because then youd be getting the most use out of the 3 gears.

the only downside is 1st would be even shorter.....

hahah My truck uses ALL 5 gears in the 1/4 mile lol. Im crossing the traps at 151 km/h in 5th (overdrive) and my trucks top speed is 172 km/h. (redline in 5th gear).

So im glad I have an AUTOMATIC haha.

I think shorter gears in the cobalt would be better... yes you lose a little bit of time from having to shift to 3rd, but if the guys has slicks or DRs and is able to have great traction then he is able to take full advantage of having shorter gears. But on street tires, i think they wouldnt help too much due to traction issues...

I ran with VP Streetblaze 103 a few weekends ago. I've also tried MTS 99 octane. I think next time, I'm going to stick with either the VP 103 or MTS 104.

Yes... A little, but I don't have a stock tune.

What do you have done to your car? What kinds of gains are you looking for?

Nothing I have like 3000 k on my car I want to break it in before I start doing stuff to it. But I want to the stage 2, exhaust and intake. Maybe a little squirt of nos would be cool.

I stayed up until 1:30 installing the K&N intake (which was a total bitch for me) in my car last night just to get it ready for the track tonight so I could reclaim the #5 spot on the list but of course Edmonton weather sucks ass.... hopefully next week.

Not the greatest night for me at Race City last Friday... Didn't beat my best time but I did get a higher trap speed. My best trap speed is now 102.11 mph.

depends what you want from the car, and how much you have to spend

I think the LSD option is about $1200, not sure on exact price....
if you intend to do alot of spirited driving with the wheels turned.....IE autocross....or you just love taking turns really fast.....the LSD would be a nice option.

I dont drive like a madman,
usually when i "get on it" im driving straight, and an LSD isnt going to do a thing for me....so i feel that the money is better off spent elsewhere.

The lsd option ensures longevity of the diff under abuse of any kind.
Wheel-hop will kill any other diff over time, and yes, it helps alot in the turns.
Is the lsd option a Quaife?
If it is, get it, you'll never look back.

91 Octane--says right in the owners manual. You can run lower but power will drop a bit.
Exactly right. 91 Octane is needed for both SS engines because of the higher compression that they both have. Plus, since the ECU detects and reacts to engine knock by reducing power, it's a waste of money IMO to put anything BUT premium in. I noticed that with mine, the dealer filled it with regular and I had bad mileage, then I switched to Premium and my mileage increased - so Premium doesn't actually cost me more per KM......

/end rant from 2 provinces over.....

its nice for us poor canuks to have our own list....
cuz it can be really disheartening with our altitude and conditions.

Its hard for a stock ss/sc up here to get below 14.8 :/
