2009 ALBERTA Top 1/4 Mile Times
Hey guys, seeing as the '09 season is over, I was hoping that you could humor a request/thought...
I also looked at the '07, '08 versions of this thread, and was wondering if criteria could be relaxed a bit regaurding the '10 "top ten" thread...
background;
The most n/a (naturally aspirated) top ten submissions appear to have been for the '07 thread...
The last year that a Cobalt SS could have been ordered with a LE5 was 2007...
The last Cobalt to have had LE5 was the 2008 "Sport" which replaced the SS after the LSJ was discontinued...
For 2009, the LE5 was only available in the Solstice (base), Ion (base), and G5-GT...
For the 2010 model year the 2.4L isn't actually available (even the Canadian only G5-GT's only come with the 2.2L)...
You seemed to have already expanded (although the groups were underutilized) to include non-SS cars (eg: 2.2L)...
My idea:
Why not for 2010, allow these groups;
1) LNF
2) LSJ
3) n/a
4) boosted (non-stock turbo or supercharged)
2nd part to my idea (plus background);
Since this appears to be the closest thing to a legit online group that actually gets hits from Albertians, why not allow the precursor to the Ecotec powered Cobalts (and thier owners) have their times posted in this thread?
It's not like you're going to be taken over by people who fall in this category;
the cars/engines that I'd think should fit right in are the other cars that came with the 2.2L Ecotec, as well as cars whichcame with the precursor to the ecotoec - which incase some of you didn't know were the 1988-2002 2.3L & 2.4L DOHC "Quad4" engines
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Quad-4_engine
I know that when I go to the track I consider the LE5 ecotec cars to be my closest competition...
If I'm correct the average LE5 was rated at 171hp;
The last year of the 2.3L Quad4-HO was rated at 170hp;
the 2.2L ecotec, as well as the "LO" Quad4, and the Twin Cam were all around 150hp...
What do you guys think??
I am certain that all members here at the very least like Cobalt SS's, and we're all GM fans - so it's not like you're going to have dyed in the wool honda or dodge guys coming over here calling foul because you're not letting them post...
This seems to be the best place so far that I've come across for Albertains to post times their getting in these cars...
Just some food for thought...
P.S. - if this is cool with you guys, and are able to take it a step further - I have '09 timeslips I can provide for my car.

Since I started bringing my "slow" car to the track I have actually widdled off a little over a second from my E/T's - and for a 19yo n/a FWD 4 cylinder car, with no extensive modification, spray, or what not, I think that's pretty respectable.
Plus, what's the point of having a "top ten" list if there's only one or two people in that list...
Like I said before, this seems to be the best place so far that I've come across for Albertians to post times their getting in these cars.
Food for thought.
