Bye bye Cobalt

After being in a Cobalt (I had 2) for a total of 4.5 years I decided to move on. It's a reliable, well built car with a very high cornering limit and good brakes.

I became very unhappy with the super hard ride--felt every single bump in the road--and the impact was harsh! It never tried to absorb them, just crash over them. And it sure felt small inside. And the fake, steering feel....

I also grew to hate the 2.4L with the automatic. Wheezy and whinny sounding. Took too much effort (higher revs) to get moving. Good gas mileage though.

With nothing else on the horizon--the Cruze is too far out and I'd only go for 200hp or so, and the Focus even further, I am going to try to save some money, so I bought a 2004 Grand Am SE1.

Had 97K kms on it and is holding up very well so far (yes I am aware of the TSBs and recalls)

I love the extra room inside. The 3400 V6 pulls it around with less effort and fa more pleasing sound as well. No it doesn't corner as well but it rides sooo much better.

I regret not buying a Grand Am brand new. This car drives alot better then the Cobalt--at least to me. I am VERY happy. Plus it's paid for

Off to Race City ASAP to see how much quicker then the Cobalt (I am guessing 0.3 and 2 mph)
