checking in today. castrol? im in depending sched. earlier will be better for me. i doubt i can beat my personal best of 15.3 with a balt.

food for thought jordan. they say 100 lbs = 1 tenth of a second. i have a buddy who has put a intake, exhaust, and tune with srt10 wheels on his rumble bee, but he uses that truck to tow his skyline with a stroked 360 in it. i believe he is in the 10's.

elevation more drastically effects naturally aspirated guys;
even though period road tests say my Cobalt is good for 13.9 stock, the best I was able to muster at race city was (iirc) 14.3;
later, on a tune (ect) I pulled a 13.9 at Castrol (July long 2012).

Mark, there's no way you will only pull a 15.3 - if you think there's any truth to that, then don't run against 'Rodney' - because he's done better (at Race City no less).

Yeah it'll be good to get a baseline. I wanna dyno and hit the strip before I start modding. I'm not gonna get crazy but I'd like to see low 14's at least with bolt ons.

I'd wager your money will be best spent on anything to help lower your 60'.
There's easily enough hp to get there - but having no traction will screw you.

don't the mustang dyno read lower than the other guys?

iirc typically bone stock SS/TC's generally read a realistic 240ish on a (not-happy) dynojet dyno...
what ever the case, yo're going to have to re-visit that same dyno now to see what kind of gains you have seen ~ and that is really where a dyno is effective...

if you cannot spin off the line, you are having something going on to prevent this, or your have a BUTT-LOAD of power loss in your drivetrain.

i can spin in 2wd, not 4wd. she just takes off.

drivetrain loss is about 22%

Launching in 4x4 is great for your 60' but kills the trap speed

I guess I could play with it. Wonder if switching right after the launch would help. It's electronic controlled and only swaps if it won't hurt the driveline.

If set up the way it's supposed to be yes it will. A Mustang dyno uses an Inertia load as well as an eddy current brake load to simulate the "actual" load. Dynojet dyno is referred to as an inertia-type dynamometer, because large drums provide an inertial load to the drivetrain instead of a friction brake. A mustang dyno is better for tuning though. It's just a bit of a heart breaker with numbers. Aka why my numbers from pump gas to E45 with more boost weren't what they should have been. Hopefully I can get boost to hold better up to redline and i'll go back and hit up my regular dyno and see what it can do.

Apparently the one air boy tuning uses is even worse than a mustang dyno. It's a dyno dynamics

i will vouch dyno dynamics will ruin your day if you looking for high numbers they will typically read 50hp lower than a dynojet

Yep dyno dynamics are great for tuning steady state with all the load control they offer, but they are heart breakers. I made 508whp on a dynojet on 23 lbs and only 7300 rpms, and made 481 on 24 lbs and 8k rpms on the local dyno dynamics. 27-28 lbs only made 518 on the local as well.

I don't even know what brand of dyno sammi has. All I seen was 240ish when I had my car on it a few years back
