The super duty ta's are very hard to find now. My dad and I restored the car back in 85 and I eventually purchased it from him. It was basically brand new at the end of 85. It was painted black and gold and had the twin scoop hood on it. We threw a 70 z28 lt1 motor in it that was rebuilt with a bigger cam. Car handled really well for being a unibody, and was a lot of fun.
I drove it a couple years and took care of it. Sold it to an older friend of mine that 2 weeks later got t boned at an intersection and totaled the car. Shouldn't have sold it....

The SD455 is a great engine, but it overshadows the equally as cool 455HO.
My Favorite Pontiac engine is the 1968-1/2 "Ram Air II".
After that the Ram Air IV, closely followed by the other two "standard" 'Ram Air' engines;
1967-1968 "Ram Air I" & 1969-1970 "Ram Air III".

The 70-75 Formulas (minus the 73-74 SD455) had the coolest hood;
The 1976 Formula hood was essentially a more understaded metal version of the 70-75 hood.

I missed all the REAL cool cars...
(read: pre-smog, high compression "musclecars" of 1964-1974)

Yeah I'm old. Good time to grow up, cheap gas, still had some muscle cars running around, good rock music. And you could get pulled over road farming and the cops would just tell you to go home verses throwing you in jail. No one did heroin, meth, and most kids actually had part time jobs and weren't spoiled disrespectful cry babies.

It's ok, it just means I'm closer to retiring verses still having to work another 30yrs. Wouldn't have traded it for anything and wish we could take the world back to those days.

 

That's a good way of looking at it. My greatest fear is my generation will never be able to retire haha. I wasn't a thought in my parents mind in 85 either.

there has been talk since the 1960's that the Canada pension plan was going to be gone when that generation retires...
it could still disappear, but no point worrying about it now...

 

It's not really the CPP I'm worried about. It's not enough to live off anyway.

 

standing theory is that by the time you are retiring, you do not have a mortgage, or rent to worry about - and that you have some equity;
if that's your case, you can live on CPP - I know people who do it.

 

The CPP will be a fantasy myth when i go to retire. Too many people who have yet to work half their life in this country are already eligible to collect it. you would be better off to buy some land in the back 40 and live off it

 

Us social security is also underfunded. Most of the governments across the world can't make ends meet. Who knows what will happen years down road, it can't keep going on. In the us there are way too many people living off government assistance for us to afford them. I don't know how canada can afford the subsidized healthcare part. Ours is partially subsidized for people and we can't afford that.

 

It's really not all what American's make it out to be...

That said, I have understood that as an American, you will typically be paying alot less in tax than a Canadian;
I can't find anything substantial on the internet right now, but have first hand knowledge that my personal income tax percentage is equivalent to someone who makes a whole lot more than me in the 'states.

Then again, you have a much larger population, so logically you should be taxed less...

Well, welcome to Calgary, and our crazy weather systems!

As much as I loathe winter, the one thing you can count on here is that the temperature rarely stays brutal for more than two weeks - we always get repreive.

 

The weather is so bizarre. Saturday night I was out and when I left my friends the dash said -33 (friends STI won't start in that cold), and by the time I went to hockey at 430 on Sunday it was -6.

 

Damn global warming and ****
