Haha, thanks jr, boost gauge makes sense now if it was a joke, I just didn't get installing one on an n/a car. As for the rest of this **** happening, you will see the same thing happen as did for last couple months, about 5 of us will drop out of the thread. For a whilebecause of the drama and it never seeming to be anything but drama in here these day, none of us or involved but there's no reason posting if this is how's things go. ( Ie. Post something about cars or looking for help and it goes to **** converation the next post). I have met most of the people and everyone is good but for some reason everyone people are acting like a bunch of women who hate eachother. If you don't get along move on, there is an ignore button to ignore certain posters if you chose. Hopefully I will see some of you down at the track next weekend when ill be pushing my car to the max)

As for next week, All depends on the weather, me and Klo might take a venture there but we will not be racing.

Kris, as for parts if I do the mods I want to like I said if we both keep N/A you will be around 15.5-15.7 , and I will be around 15.7-15.9. If my math is correct (and so far it has been dead on)

please don't be offended by this Chris;
Why would you be worried about driving this in winter?

It's not like it's an irreplaceable 40 year old musclecar - if you get full coverage and something happens, then you won't have to buy any upgrades over winter, you would be buying an upgraded car

I'd encourage you drive it year round, and just not let salt sit on the car (especially in the wheel wells & underbody - because generally people let it accumulate there) - if you take car of it, and keep it clean, it will make it through winter without a single problem.

if you're worried about rock chips have mark hook you up with paint protection...

IMHO, if you're already financially extended, buying a 2nd car when you don't have to isn't a good move... but as I said, that's my opinion.

good to know.

some people get really touchy when offering an opinion/suggestion that doesn't sync up with what they want to do.

One of the reason's why I would encourage you to just drive your car like it is, is because at the end of the day your car is supposed to be a daily driver - and unlike an SS/2.4/5spd, your car has a much larger potential buying audience - that coupled with hte marginal price increase for a same year SS/SC, it seems to me to be a little crazy for anyone to go overboard putting a ton of money into a 2.4L car when you cna put a fraction of that money in an SS/SC and get a WAYYY better turn around on your $$...

The only reason why I stuck with my older Quad4 Grand am, is:
  1. I owed nothing on it
  2. it made 180hp bone stock (relatively the same as your car)
  3. I couldn't justify spending $30k on a Cobalt (advertized) with only a 25hp increase over my GA

I started looking at Cobalt's as soon as I saw the SS/TC was available in Canada - because:
  • made 80hp more than my GA ins stock trim
  • has wayyy more potential than my GA
  • I had never planned on turbo charging my GA - because few have done it, and of the turbo Quad4 cars I've seen, all the engines looked haggard
  • I was dealing with an outdated platform that was already impossible to find hop-up parts for
  • and, I have never owned a new car before...

but back to SS/2.4 vs SS/SC, chew on the following;

for example;
(using Kelly Blue Book's "private party" values; 100,00miles(161,000km)/good condition)
2006 SS coupe/automatic = $7,115
2006 SS Supercharged = $8,445

that's a whopping $1,300 difference in value!!
~ although I have not paid too much attention to values of 2005-2007 Cobalt SS/SC or SS/2.4L KBB's info is going to have a huge degree of relevance to our market (just ask yourself what dealers ect use when figuring out car values; KBB is the standard)
~~ now insurance aside, wouldn't you happily spend an extra $1,300 to have an SS/SC?

Now, I don't know if you're paying for your car or what not, but if you played your cards right (meaning had alot of patience) I don't doubt you could sell your car, and buy an SS/SC for a little bit more, and not have to mess with buying anything to blow Calgarybalt out of the water!

just some food for thought...

BaltBitch Is right, I am only good at math if it has $$ signs in front of it. without that I look at all the numbers and just get confused. but put a $ infront of the equation and its like light bulbs turn on in my head I just know the answer.

As for the 2.4 issue I think you should just get a set of different shocks and struts mounted with your old springs in order not to damage your car. but thats just my opionion I know I personally did alot of winter driving last year, and Missy can vouch for the fact that on a couple instances without winters, and if i was lowered we would have never made it home ( alive lol )

Steve why don't you just swing by and I will help you in at night swap out all your springs ( just rent a spring compressor and the rest is easy?)

ok fair enough;
I just know first hand about getting attached to a car, but at the same time, an uphill battle is just that - but if you want a car faster than what you currently have a bone stock SS/SC is a full second faster than you - without any trickery/lightening...
(then again, so is my GA )
