Mhm cause I paid $1,000 all said and done to tow it home and fix it. All my money basically goes into my car, but even that was a bit much.

So let me rephrase that... I miss having a Cobalt which wasn't a piece of ****.. which I never had, technically.

jonathon email me a price your looking for, judging by the pics i think your going to want more than what im looking for ( im looking for something in the rough that basically isnt running, with a decent body ( Doesnt nee dto be perfect- just not a total rust bucket)- plan is to build it full out so dont want to spend the money paying for running components that are worthless to me)

a side note i had 50k into my cobalt with purchase price.......its a bad addiction to car parts haha

i think its a 90L tank but i was steady at 120 and lots of spirited (160+) passes

You have double the ank and double the cubic inches. You should get more per tank than a cobalt! lol it's a cobalt, not a Honda lawnmower!

hahaha yours is a 2.0L like a honda, should get pretty good fuel mileage? in my ion i got like 600 to a tank..

i think 800Km on a tank in a truck is great, specially when its a 5.7L V8.. haha

I had zero problems with it, but whatever.

I know how you feel though now that I have this talon haha. It seems like as soon as I fix one thing it's another that is fucked. If I didn't do my own work this thing would have costed me a mint.

Crap happens - no matter the root cause of the clutch, that's a chance you take on ANY car;
so it costed you $1k to tow home and have fixed...
But you committed to spending (what) twenty on another car???

At the end of the day you bought a used car that had no warranty;
I'd be willing to guess that considering how hard it had (sporadically) been driven versus how hard it would have been driven as a DD to school and back for a year, you would have had nere a hiccup...
Even if you did have a hiccup, odds are that when stacked against payments on a new car amortized over the school year any maintenance would have been far less for the same duration...



There's an old saying that needs to be interjected here (it goes something like this);

Take your pick, but you can only have two:
  • Cheap
  • Reliable
  • Powerful
This saying is 100% true - ask anyone who has a fun/fast car...

see i disagree respectfully with this statement. as any tuning can cause the car to go lean regardless of HPT or Trifecta. but at the same time its up to the owner of the car to trust the tuner and to make sure to monitor the proper things and make sure the car is running optimal when its tuned. so its not just the tuner but the owner as well.

then maybe you're not 100% clear on what happens with a trifecta tune;
contrary to misnomers spread around here Trifecta tunes (except for maybe the 'cracked' GMS3 for LSJ's) are not "canned tunes"...
I might have an idea about this...

I don't like the idea of not being able to get the car fixed without sending data logs back and forth and analyze them, if there's not enough data there there interpolating to generate the tune instead of doing another data log instantly. There something to be said with having face to face contact with a tuner that knows what's going on and can watch the car and how it's acting with the data logging, ie how it feels etc. Trifecta tunes simply can't offer this jonathon and that is why people don't like them, he makes sure it is changed for what should be right then sends it to you then data log then change. Much harder process. Hp tuners and learning how to do it is the best. I put a ton of links to show people how to learn how to do it for all the guys that own hp tuners. It just takes patience and time but is hugely rewarding. I loved messing around with mine towards end.

Sylver if u have hp tuners stop by with it next time your in town and I will go out with u if u want and help u dial in, I miss tuning my Balt so would be fun.

I believe the tuner should be in the car monitoring values, listening to car and feeling it. This is something trifecta can't offer. Any average Joe can pickup trifecta, true good tuners are out there. Mark( pickles) is one and there is others

At the end of the day it's up to the customer, do your research and go from there.

Does vince get tunes back quickly jonathon, does he charge for reviewing each data log and what does vince say average time for getting a completely dialed in tube, if u share some of this info you may bring some more people around

I agree with most of this. I wish he'd given me a day to find those papers, I ended up finding the receipt with the 12 month warranty on it for the parts/labour. I drove it hard sommetimes, but kept it very well maintained. It was my DD and the only reason I ever had it towed was because of an axle at the track.
