does anyone here know how to reprogram the key fobs for a '06 SS/SC in or around edmonton, also where would be a good place to purchase a key fob.

What's wrong with yours? Did you try re soldering it and replacing the rubber button inserts? If your key fob somehow became unsynced to your car, pull your radio fuse in the fuse box by the passengers feet. Wait 30 seconds, reinstall fuse, hold the lock and unlock buttons down at the same time on the key fob for 30 seconds. Then try seeing if it works.

+1 about getting the buttons replaced. I have fixed 2 FOBS with Ebay cases that come with buttons (no internals)

Cheap too!

If you don't have one at all I'm afraid you have to go the dealer router I beleive unless your dealer is willing to programa unit purchased from Ebay.

you will still pay the cost of programming.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/141433938156?lpid=82
They are cheap on Ebay with free shipping if you are in the US.

Even with $10 shipping it is cheaper than the dealer.

I think they charge a flat rate for programming

This "might" work

u can program the remote yourself. i copy and paste this from nother site.

From this link see below the excerpt
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/elec...34/index2.html
  1. I pulled the interior fuse cover from the passenger seat.
  2. I located and pulled the 10A fuse for the Radio (labeled RDO).
  3. I turned the car to the on position to verify the radio was disabled.
  4. I turned the car back off and removed the keys.
  5. I waited 30 seconds (I'm a Network Engineer, we always wait thirty seconds after unplugging something).
  6. I put the fuse back into the correct spot.
  7. I then held down the lock and unlock key on the keyfob at the same time till the locks on the doors activated.
  8. I then tested the keyfob and made sure it was locking and unlocking the doors and activating the security system.
  9. This process did reset my security settings on her car so I had to go through the reset process (holding in the information and reset key at the same time then following the prompts).

I'll check to see if I still have my old one

Nope but found this online

Part number 22733523

http://www.gmpartsdepot.ca/p/GM__/Re...8_GM_StockCode

So this is the part number for 2006 as well as many other GM vehicles

22733524 is the same FOB but includes a remote start button and there are lots of these on Ebay. Don't think Remote Start was an option but in a pinch this FOB will also work.

I don't think you can program Cobalt fobs without the dealer. Some GM vehicles are easy to do it on, but Cobalts aren't one of them. Wouldn't hurt to try the above though.

well, you need to be a dealer unless you spend huge cash on tech that can do it....amongst other things.
you cannot do it at home as Joe Dude.... I can delete old key fob slots, and program as many as the car holds.
