Question Lil Help with my shifter knob dilema...

**EDIT**

Ok so after some digging I found out the following - there are no threads and in order to get threads I'd need to use a "Tap and Die" (im not sure exactly what that is but from my searching it apparently makes things have threads) So once I create the threads on the shifter I should be then able to use the How to located here: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-guide-43/shifter-knob-removal-factory-quality-replace-w-any-knob-20099/

And hide the reverse lockout and then simply screw on the new shifter knob on the threads... does this sound right?

=================Origional Post===================================
So wanted so help from ya guys on how to go about this... I've got a few options...

I really dont mind the stock SS/SC shifter so I was thinking rather than going and buying a whole new short throw etc I would just replace my knob...

heres the problem the knob I found (which I love and if u bash it I'll kill u :P) requires me to give them the specs for how big of a thread to put in... I'm not sure and well I dont want to go and pull the stock off cause well I wont have the new knob for a few weeks so I was wondering if anyone has a stock shifter and knows how big the thread is I'd really appreciate it...

feedback is appreciated.

There is no threads on the top of our factory shifters. Also I don't think the shifter will work because the reverse lock out goes up into the handle. The shifter is 12mm in diameter but the end has some grooves. To glue the shifter knob back on use locktite rear view mirror 2 part adhesive works great.

Hey Spaz thanks for the words heres what I found out from the how to's and I'm just tossing out ideas at this point so bare with me...

basically I need to find someone local with a "Tap and Die" (as Spaz commented on this how to) once I create the threads I should be able to then order the new shifter and have it screw on... as for the part about the reverse lock out...

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-guide-43/thread-your-stock-ss-sc-shifter-knob-52887/

If I'm reading this correctly I should be able to hide the reverse lock out like they did in this How to...

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20099

Let me know your thoughts? I mean I could be totally off base here but with my limited knowledge it makes sense to me that in theory it should work... Right???!!!!???
