Scan Tool

Anyone have an OBD 1 scan tool?


Something is very wrong with my Formula. Like to see what the SES light means.

Usually Autozone or one of those places will scan SES lights for free.

they dont have obd 1 tools though or at least most of them

Go to the minute lube on 16th ave across from SAIT and ask for Mat. They have a OBD II scan tool and will probably scan it for free. Tell Mat that Larry suggested you go there.

What type of car is it that you will need an OBD I scanner. If your car is a 1995 or newer it is the OBD II that you need.

read his sig. its an 89 but otherwise you are correct with 95 or newer.

some one remeinded me of the old paper clip trick--obd1 only I think.

I got 2 codes....yes its for the Firebird.

ALDL connector You have to short out the diagnostic terminal and the ground and turn the key on but do not start the car and then count the flashes. 2 flashes,pausem, 4 flashes would be code 24.
Terminal A is the Ground -Top right
Terminal B is Diagnostic - Second from the right on top row.
There beside each other on the top row marked A and B .

MAF relay and MAF Burn off relays. I got 2 new ones, no more codes and FULL power
