06 Cobalt SS/SC vs. 03 Mustang GT. Who wins??
Hey guys, I have a question that is probably better off not asked, cuz I'm sure most will say "USE THE SEARCH BUTTON." Anyway, I have a friend that just bought an '03 Ford Mustang GT, only mods we know of are a HURST STS and some off brand Cold Air Intake, it is lowered, but we aren't sure how (havent looked into it much yet). I'm running an '06 Chevrolet Cobalt SS S/C with only a K&N CAI.
Anyway, I've had my car at the track (ORP in Indianapolis) a few times and the best I could turn is 14.96 in the 1/4. Granted, it was 85+ degrees outside, humid as hell, and I'm sure track temp was thru the roof. (I also did NOT have my K&N CAI at that time). He has yet to get his car to the track, b/c he just bought it last month. Anyway, who do you guys think could turn the quickest 1/4 time? From what I've read the 260hp GT's will run about 14.5ish and I've heard about the same for the 06 Cobalt SS S/C, both will be on street tires and no other mods other than what I listed above.
Sorry for the wall of text, but who do you think will turn the quickest time?
Thanks for replies!

Yeah true. I'd say we are both pretty experienced drivers, we've both driven cars with manual transmissions since we got out licenses, and we are both almost 21. We've both been the the track a few times too, him in a diff car but its all the same lol. We plan on getting over to O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis a few times this summer, I'll try and remember to have another buddy video tape it so I can post it up!

Yeah I'm sure it would but I heard dropping a pulley size is bad for the engine if you dont have Stg 1, 2 or 3 kit, plus it'll just make it run hotter, and I'm not aftermarket inter-cooled or anything like that.
You dont think there is any chance though if I dont drop to a smaller pulley.

Im honestly betting your going to lose unless this guy cant drive or if that gt's an auto.
My foxbody gt convertible (5spd 2.73 gearing) with an intake and an electric cooking fan ran a 14.42 at 98mph with a 2.2 60ft and i was probably 30-40hp short of the SN95+ gt's.
If the guy cant drive you stand a chance.

A fully loaded vert not so much. Plus the SN95+ most likely had a slight gearing advantage.
There was a guy a while back that was running 13.8-13.9s all night long (80 degree non humid night) in a bone stock 04 GT 5spd coupe. (This was on the east side of st.louis at gateway raceway) guy was cutting 2.0-2.1 60fts all night with pretty good reaction times.
