Talking 14.1 and STOCK?

Well hello everyone. My name is Brandon and i recently bought an 06 Sunburst Orange SS. For the past 3 Fridays, me and my buddies have been going to NYIRP (our local drag strip) for test and tune to see who's running the fastest...

The thing that gets me is i ran 14.2 the first week, and then 14.2 and 2 14.1's the second week BONE STOCK. How is this possible. I'm not going to complain and i guess i could just pat my self on the back and say good job. but i just don't understand because all of my friends are saying its not possible. Did i just happen to get a "FREAK" from the factory or what? someone please tell me they have run close to this or beaten it stock so i know there isn't a problem with my car. my slip looked like this:

R/T ... .695
60' ... .2.245
1/4 ... 14.174
MPH ... 99.61

Now i did run a faster trap the first Friday at 100.51 and 14.2, but this past week at 14.1, i couldn't get out of the hole without spinning the **** out of my tires. i since found a new launch method and am going to try it next week (cant go this week cause of work). I'm wondering if i cant break 14.0, or even 13.999 stock if i get the launch down this coming up week. anyone with ideas, write me back please.

Very possible, Very true

I ran a 14.2 w/ only an intake and I hear they don't help you out that much

A lot of different factors come into play those are really great times, it could be the newness lack of wear on the tires numerous factors effect this such as altitude and temperature track conditions so it is very likely your a good enough driver but usually errors with cars don't make them faster. so i wouldn't worry.

did you hit the rev limiter in third at the top end of the track? could be why you trapped at 99

no the tires are warn in, they are less then 1/4 tread and the cars got almost 5000 on the clock now, so i dont think the tire or car wear are it

You can vouch?

I for one, would like to see a slip.

I don't see a 2.2 60 footer being good enough for you guys to run 14.1...

Is the track down hill?

are you sure you don't drive an srt-4? lol. Those are really respectable times and I think that is what a ss s/c with a good driver that knows where to shift his car and his car is broke in good should be able to run. if you got your 60ft. down to a 2.0 or even a low 2.1 I think you could pull off a 13sec time stock. but be careful as you will have a lot of jealous people on this forum. lol. Great times tho!!! let's see the slips!

Launching the car is difficult! Once you find something that works perfect it! It took me a while to figure it out but I can now get 2.2 60' times, but thats the best I or any other fairly stock guy can muster. You can shave a few 10ths of by throwin some race fuel in it. It took me from 15.1's down to 14.8! Air was bad and it was hot. You should easily be in the 13's with some 104 unleaded.

man you will hit 13s i would really get a kick out of it. myself and hatrickstu have been trying to tell everyone on here that these could easily be a 13.9 second car stock. i would love for you to prove that. i would but i dont have a 1/4 mile and a lot of people dont listen to reason when myself or hatrickstu say that with our 1000ft times we would be in the 13s. but good luck and i have no doubt you will hit 13.9.

Awsome times. You must have got a strong factory car and you're definately a great driver. Go ahead and give yourself that pat on the back.
