2.2 Launch

i dont take my car to the drag strip, but i do an occasional drag race friday/sat nights on US 31. i would just like to know, whats a near perfect launching rpm? i always seem to mess up the launch, i either rev to high, get no traction and burn up my tires, i get a sucky start because of low rpm rev, or i dont rev at all and i get beat off the line because the other guy has a better launch. im new at driving a stick, im not bad but my launches could be a lot better. ive practiced my launches a lot, but is there any one that is willing to give me tips?

thank ya much

hey wasup gotta 2.2 myself and i had the same problem at first too. after practicing a few times over at the local race spot i got it. p.s. lol embarassed a few civcs once i got the hang of it lol............so here it is>hold the clutch all the way down while in 1st gear
>give it about 1/4 throttle and hold the rpm's at 3500
>when its time to launch let go of clutch as quick as u can
whlie giving it full throttle
>let the revs redline (and dont be scared) keep the gas
down until u feel the tires regain traction & then bang it
into 2nd
You'll know your doing it right when 2nd gear starts anywhere past 3000 rpm. but remember stay within the right rpms to maximize power. if u rev to high ur just wasting time and if u switch gears too soon ur missing out on ur peak output.

hope this helps.............

I would launch at around 4000rpm. Keep your rpms up and dont drop the clutch.

yea just do that but not all the time bcus it will wear ur clutch quicker and ur transaxel is stressed 2

nd if u wanna win that bad hold the gas all the way down while ur shifting. all this does is put ur engine in a better position on the tac so that u dnt really lose ur place in ur torque curve. nd this doesn't cause n e kind of damage if done in moderation.

in other words..........only use wen racing those dam hondas lol
