When I was stock, a modded 2.2 Ion was able to keep up with me. But after all the mods and tuning I can give him a headstart and still beat him

well, i can belive that.

it seems to me that roughly...

modded 2.2 = stock 2.4
modded 2.4 = stock SC
modded SC = stock 2.2 with a lot of n2o

I would agree that a modded 2.2l is on the same playing field as a 2.4l.
But you would need more than full bolt-ons on a 2.4l to match up with a stock SS/SC(with a decent driver).
I've seen the video of a modded SS/NA taking a SS/SC from a stoplight, but the SC driver wasn't paying attention to the light and got smoked right from the start, was playing catch up to a damn good driver.
It Could be done without blowing or spraying...but not easy and not cheap...

it also depends on the car, the day, the driver, etc etc etc.
