14.0/103mph in the 1/4.

its geared for luxury..not performance...ride quality and sound dampening..yes it has off the line torque..but it lacks in top end.
I think MotorTrend ran a 13.9 with the Sedan and couldn't break into the 13's with the coupe

God I am so freaking tired of the Genesis fanboys, the reality is any cobalt ss supercharged or turbo especially will rape the hell out of that thing.

I beg for the chance to spank the hell out of one of these assclowns

amen, just because it's a slanted H on the front, doesn't mean it doesn't deserve a little respect. At least Hyundai got it right with RWD and it's a sexy looking car. The interior is bad ass.

I hear the interior still feels extremely cheap.... I mean the SS isnt anything to brag about but.. its still based off the world engine so yes its a good power plant just like the SS has. Except its not DI so I bet they will get way more power out of it before the lnf is figured out.

go drive one then, I drove one and with all the neat little gadgets and the way the seats hug you, you'd think that was a very expensive interior.

300zx's are cool, but a lot of people are looking for NEW cars.

Whats so bad about the hyundai genesis coupe? i was really tempted to get one before I went with the cobalt. I wanted a rwd platform, but I backed off based on the handling capabilities of the cobalt ss t/c. the 2.0t genesis coupe is a realllly new car, in good time it will be the new s13/s14/s15

I think I should actually. I mean they are slower and wont ever have a DD as a rwd because of snow. But if I could get more cars it could be a fun summer only tuner. Just hope the aftermarket parts are as cheap as the hyundia

exactly what I was thinking when spending big money on a new car.

It would be an awesome cheap rwd tune car.

yes it reminds me of a miata well soon.. Give it some years and used 2.0T's will be cheap. And if its a tuner you usually strip out the interior or/and back seats so meh... Be interesting to see what kind of issues it does have.

I ran a 2.0T through 2nd and 3rd and it lost by a substantial margin, the engine's kinda underpowered for the car imo. My friend has a V6 and wants to go to the strip sometime this summer but it's the only model I would expect to put up a challenge since it's putting down 300 and it's RWD.

In a nut shell.

With the stock turbo you can run out of time to inject fuel in the midrange.

well duh, what did you expect? The cars were designed to be modified, they just so happen to void your warranty when you do lol. I think they're still cool, power can be made up.

Well I expected a bit more from their first performance car even with the base turbocharged engine . Agreed though, damned nice looking car inside and out

I drove one, felt nice but sluggish. The safety features are actually nice but I just feel kinda held back when it comes to buying a Hyundai.

Well when I was reviewing the car and watching what others were discovering about the car, I noticed this nice crimp in the down pipe which was absolutely unnecessary, and you can tell they down tuned the motor as much as possible for the tuner market. Not to mention you can run 87 octane safetly on that car!!! that seems pretty cool to me, then I saw their first tune with the downpipe replaced and an intake on 93 octane..... only like 230whp. barf!!! went from 197whp on 93octane to somewhere near 230whp on octane.

thats terrible. they still need to figure out how to unlock that engine before i buy one. thats another reason I went for the cobalt research FTW.

on a side note I believe the 2.0t gen coupe also gets about 189whp on 87 octane. so an 11hp gain between the two gases, not bad.

'Unlock'?

On turbo cars, the restriction is how big the turbo is.

The K04 looks like a mammoth turbo compared to the turbo in the Genesis.

Yeah but I dont think its the turbo or the size. Big turbo SS and MS3'as hit like 400whp and cant go more. In talking to the tuner/vender's and people with big turbos on the ms3 they need more time during? the cycle to get more out of the car but cant. the fuel pump can do crazy amounts but theres just not enough time.

Why don't you think it is turbo size?

Small turbos make more midrange than high, and I can show you logs with HPTuners where I run out of time around 4k-5200, and from there on up it's fine.

Size of the turbo PLUS not enough fuel rail pressure.

Need moar nao

Yes you need a big turbo to get that far or further. but like I said even with big turbo's the cars are topped at 400whp. Just look at the people who've tried. I think I saw a SS at 410hp...but thats it. VW's were at 600+...so theres a wall that needs to be figured out.

They should be able to get more but they cant theres not enough time in the cycle. Yes I know the k04 looses air, specially in the ms3 it would run out before redline..the ms3 had plenty of pressure in the fuel rail and it had a fuel pump well beyond what was needed.

the image doesnt work for me but in the genesis forum, this is the first thread I found where they dissected the genesis coupe part by part. interesting read. they point out all the positives and negatives they found. +1 for AMS support.
