On my buddy Mikes 93 Z28 ( F1 procharger , FM heat exchanger /rear trunk mounted fuel cell ice box and high volume pump , 383 656 RWHP/570 RWTQ ) , were eliminating the intercooler all together and gonna soley use the water injection because it works so well . Another local high HP car did this with great success .

Unless your using ice water the water injection will cool down the air much more efficiently than the stock SS heat exchanger or 2 of them piggybacked .

And The Saga Continues for us

So far on one of them we have installed

Axles
Solid Mount ( what pieces of garbage the car shakes like a Mack Truck)
ECU
Bigger Injectors
Changed the pulleys AGAIN
the exhaust should be here any day

So far the BEST time 14.07 with our Pro Driver, we will try with the drag radials and the exhaust and I think that be the end of the road for us with the Cobalts.

I agree.. I went faster with stock everything, then bought GMS2 and put in a drop in filter to get 13.9. My point is I did this on 10 runs and I am not a professional driver. I am a Registered Nurse.

60lbers
2.4" from ZZP
ZZP machine Tool
Some sort of header with 3" outlet to a 3" d/p and full 3" exhaust (no neckdowns anywhere) straight thru mufflers and resonators NO BAFFLES...No cat if i can get away with it
Air Ride Air Springs
Exedy 6-puck clutch/flywheel combo
DSS Stage 2 axles
Shave brake calipers to clear 15" wheels and run full on slicks
Devil's Own Progressive Alky injection Kit
Stage 2 belt
Intense 3" tensioner
Sparkplugs intense sells
Intense Trans axle mounts
Dual Pass i/c conversion

I see no reason why this wont go 12.5 on pump gas with slicks

Dan

if i had extra $ i would do this mod list

I will like to know a few things from all of you, I need the cars to be @ 12.50 or better, so my questions are,

What Mod could you guys suggest to get the power needed to that level.
What Clutch are you guys using ? has the stock clutch be good to you ?
What have you done in the axle dept ?

Any help could be greatly apprecciated.
i realize that I'm posting way late in the discussion, but i think your best bet would be limiting the boost alot in first gear. mine is at a max of 10psi, but mostly at 8. still running stock axles, and clutch. and tires. my only traction mod to speak of are the ssc springs, (installed tomorrow morning @ 8:30). but at the track I've had minimal wheel hop issues. (i usually let off on the first hop, then quick punch it. it grips right up for me.)
p.s. mine is a non G85 model. i guess a good LSD would be an idea for smoother launches.

hope that helped. although it probably didn't

X10000... sounds to me like your guy needs some more wheel time in the car. it's no easy car to launch consistently. lower the boost in first gear. thats really all i can say.

I've got about 30 runs a the track with mine now, so I'm getting comfortable in it... plus I've put 17K on it. I think he just needs to get used to it. Driver mod is a must with these if you really want to hit 12.5. thats the goal for me as well.. although my parts list is way shorter than yours i think.

what I've got so far:
AEM cold air intake, 2.5" magnaflow catback, #42 injectors, 2.9" pulley, dyno tune, ported blower.
installed tomorrow morning:
ZZP header downpipe combo, ssc springs, and NGK 1 step colder plugs.

not too distant future:
Nitrous Oxides Systems 35-60hp wet shot, ARP head studs, stage 2 axles, undecided clutch, torque damper, undecided tires, AEM wideband, BOOST RESTRICTIONS REMOVED.

I'm confident I can get at least a 12.8 right there. but then I've maxed out the engine, and have to do internal work to go faster.
