First time at the strip! pretty happy

So today i took the balt to the drag strip for the first time ever. i promised myself i'd take it easy on the car to get a feel for it and not wheel hop and break anything.

I have GMS1 only. no bolt ons and running hankook ventus v12 evos.

only got two runs in because of the fact it was busy, there was a cleanup on lane 2 and i only stayed the morning because i had the wife and kid with me.

had 3/4 of a tank of gas, baby seat mod and 26psi in fronts.

First run: left traction control on, launched from idle, only NLS'd from 3rd to 4th. was up against a 400hp turbo civic. i got a 2.447 60ft and managed 14.24@103mph turbo civic ran 13.8@108.

Second run: Competative mode, launch from 2000rpm, NLS 3rd to 4th again. slip clutch slightly and roll into throttle gently, 2.5 60ft and 14.19@104.2mph ran another turbo civic with a b18C built and turbo'd. he ran 14.6 @100mph

I'm pretty sure once i got a feel for my launches and did some harder ones i could have cut my 60ft down and got into the 13's. all in all i was happy... alot of other cars there ran like crap. alot of them were slower than i thought consistantly.

saw a 98 camaro SS LS1 run 14.19@96mph
a newer GTI with what i was told was Stage 2, intake, 3" straight through exhaust and it only ran 14.7

maybe go out to the track again in july and get myself that 13 since im confident wheel hop won't destroy my drivetrain and i can push my launches a little harder.

my slip is posted in 1/4 mile thread

The track did look like it was uphill and apparently it is. that will slow us down im sure. my buddy says it probably added a few 10ths of a second to my 1/4. good to know that my car is capable of 13's easily

Not to bad. I went to the track last thursday and it was my first time ever launching a manual. I have a K&n SRI and ZZP Catless DP, but it's untuned as of now and the learn down feature doesn't help and my best was 14.5 @ 104 with a 60 of 2.5.

I find the 1st to 2nd gear is basically the whole drag race in our damn cars. Its the difference between a 14.2 and a 13.7! or 102-108mph trap.

But then again, a auto rwd car wouldnt be that much fun either? =) Looks like you had fun tho

yep! kinda wish we could do a couple of more runs so i could push it a little off teh start and get it into the 13's but ah well... i know it can easily be done and that's all that matters.

Looking good chris. Just need to get that 60' lower. The 104mph trap is good for high 13's easy.

i agree with others good times for first time. I was lucky when i ran mine the first time, got like 14 passes in. Ive only got a KN sri and was able to run 14.33@101.9 with a 2.2 60ft with letting off due to wheel hop. Find a back road and practice those launches, thats what ive been doing to help for when i go back.

i probably won't take it to the track too often. it's still a daily summer driver. don't want to break anything just to prove it can do 13's which im sure it can. just wanted to see what the car could do. i think if i keep trying to perfect my launches it would put unneccesary stress on the drivetrain and risk breaking something eventually.
