dig around and find information on running jumpers in your fusebox for your coolant pump and fans....
cheapest helpful cooling mod i ever did. allows you to keep your fans and pump running with the ignition off between runs.

second best bang for your buck mod is a second H/E.

Seems like everyone is always dissapointed on their first track run in this car. Looks like your best times were after you let the car sit for an hour. It'll get easier....

I guess I can't bitch. My goal for the night was to at least hit 14's. I should have let the car sit, it was hard to do that tho since I've never seen this track that slow on a Friday night.

it's cool man, keep your head up, you'll get better the more you go. If you want to get better faster, get come 16" wheels with a set of slicks or drag radials and you'll be real happy with the times. Plus you'll never go back to a street tire.

i would be willing to bet his car is heatsoaked to hell on every one of those runs, which would explain the low traps
i only managed 15 flat at 94mph stock and it was pretty good weather

your sig also says it was the "first time on a drag strip in your life"

so hardly a run worthy of gauging the cars performance no?

Yeah, I mean, I got nearly half a second between my first ever run and my car stock just by learning how to drive it, control wheelspin, cool it off, etc. with my last car

Hopefully I'll be so lucky with the balt

I don't have any experience with a supercharged Cobalt, but I had a supercharged '04 Grand Prix GTP(bolt-ons, 3.5" pulley, 1.9 roller rockers w/ LS6 valve springs, tuned) and have several friends with supercharged mustangs... I can tell you, the answer to a crappy run in a supercharged car is NOT to keep running... as mentioned, heatsoak will kill your times... your best investment for the drag strip besides drag radials and cooling mods? a large cooler and a couple of bags of ice... you may look like a ricer with a bag of ice on your supercharger in between passes, but your cool down period will be much more effective... make a pass, sit for 30 minutes, make a pass... you may only get 3 passes a night, but its much better than running shitty 10 times in a night, lol

some nights, its just not your night, my best time was a 8.7xx, I could consistently run 8.90s(all we have is a 1/8th mile) but on some nights, I wouldn't crack the 8s, there are a lot of factors in why a pass goes bad, MOST of the time, the 1st 60', decide the run... the launch

Much Better

First run so far tonight was 14.576 @ 97.95, second run car bogged off the line pretty hard but went 14.917 @ 99.26 Im currently sitting at the end of the staging lanes with a big bag of ice on the blower so we'll see what happens... knock on wood

Waited around for 3 hours icing the blower and letting her cool down...pushed it all the way through the lanes and got staged with coolant around 90 degrees (not sure where IAT's were, but they had to be pretty low). 2.2 out the hole and then I missed second gear...I was so pissed, yet that was still my fastest run yet at 14.570 @ 97.5; I trapped 99 twice, including one at 99.86, but had spun the tires both times, so the runs weren't that good. Of 5 passes, my worst was a 14.925 (@99.86). I can't complain; my goal for the night was to hit a 14.5 and I got two. Guess that means it's time to go faster

wow, congrats man. 14.5 is a giant improvement over your old times. Too bad you missed 2nd on that run, you hit 14.5 again and if you hadn't had missed 2nd, it probably would have been 14.2/3 easy. Cooling those IAT's and launching is what it's all about with these cars.

StockSS\SC

Stock SS\SC run 6.0 to 6.3 sec 0-60 and typical quarters are in the mid to upper 14's at areound 96 mph. He's right there.
