Sick vette dude. I dont like many vettes from the late 3rd and early 4th gen, but thats hot. I like the lakepipes.

It's still a shame though how the 3rd gen was built on a truck chassis just doesnt do justice to the way a vette is supposed to handle imo.

October 19th were doing another track rental. My brother got some Nitto's for his Challenger, and my buddy with the 9sec Vette made some tweaks to his car. Weve got a bigger group going up this time, it should be good.

Good deal brutha! Nice looking build and good call on the MTs. In spite of what a lot of folks may tell you at the track, I would NOT go below 18 psi on those things. That and a good burnout. No need for a 20 second John Force smoke fest.
Sheit gets squirrely on the big end with low pressures and there's no marked improvement in traction or 60' in my experience.

Rentals are a blast. We do a couple a year at Atco NJ and we're working on one for November now.

Kick azz out there! Would be fun to hear how the extra traction helped you.

Uh.. 81-82 were produced at Bowling Green, 80 was the last year in Missouri. The suspension was nothing like a truck... it is independent rear suspension which has a tranverse leaf spring, unlike a truck that has leaf springs on both sides. Stock, the car had a 7 leaf spring which I replaced with a composite monospring. 81 and 82 vettes came stock with the composite monospring. Not really like a truck...

I read the last Corvette produced in ST. Louis was built on Aug. 1 1981.... the 1st build in Bowling green was June 1st 1981 . Out of the 40,606 vette's produced in 81....31,610 were built in St. Louis .

From what i've seen the 82 model year started production in October of 82 . Corvette model years in the past usually start a new model year in July or August ....but for some reason the 82 model year didn't start until October . All 82's were built in bowling green .

Yeah thats right, I just wasnt getting that specific about it. All I was getting at was the production plant had nothing to do with the chassis of that generation. The C3 generation was produced at both factories and had the same chassis. The only difference between the 81-82 and the rest of the C3's (68-80) was the 81 came with an electronically controlled carburetor (ECC) and the 82 came with the Crossfire Injection and a functional rear window haha. Thats about it.

Corvettes still use leaf springs. How was the frame reminiscent of a truck? And what does the car being built in Missouri have to do with anything?

Edit: People have already touched on the subject above.

Thanks for the compliments on the cars progress. Im extremely excited, after all the work Ive done on it I just got a job at a local restoration shop that specializes in high end Corvette restorations, they have some seriously rare cars there. Im a full time firefighter, but Ill be doing this part time.

Yeah, heads are Edelbrock, carb is too its the Thunder Series 650 with the vacuum secondary. I dialed the car in on a dyno, we tweaked the jets and needles. Its getting just the right amount of fuel up top

Im hoping for mid-low 12s, but we'll see. We were supposed to go back this past Wednesday but it rained.... then we were supposed to go yesterday (Saturday) but both myself and my brother (whos on the same fire dept as me) both got offered OT shifts for that day so we decided to work haha. (hard to pass up a $400 shift!) So.... our new plan is to go back this Wednesday, but it may rain so we'll see lol.
