I suck at driving!
Ok, I took me SS/SC to Bandimere Speedway today for the High School Drags and I had fun but im not happy with my times. I tried to post slips but my scanner is a... wait, I dont have one. So here are my runs.
1st Run ever in the balt 2nd run was the best 3rd run just sucked too
R/T .178 .280 .562
60 2.880 2.459 2.677
330 7.565 6.603 7.145
1/8 10.973 9.866 10.503
mph 73.25 75.36 73.76
1000 13.848 12.689 13.364
1/4 16.253 15.066 15.761
mph 94.63 95.5 94.86
Bandimere is at roughly 5500ft and it was 70 degrees and very dry.
Im really not too impressed with my times, considering that I have stage 2. I mostly spun in first and second and the last run I bogged in second badly.
For reference, A stock SS/SC there driven by a girl ran a low 16 all day and another stage 1 was dialed in at 15.4. Also, my friend's srt (Stock-ish) ran a 15.3 twice.
What do you all think of my first time at the track in the balt? I know my 60's suck but any other suggestions? these runs were with the tires at 32 psi and the spare tire taken out.
On a better note, my car was the fastest balt there and I got many compliments and questions, I just hope my times didn't speak badly of Cobalts in general.

Yeah, practice practice practice. I don't lower my pressure or anything, and my first time at a track ever, which was in my cobalt was a 16.01. Now I'm down to 14.7, 14.8 and still improving.

How much of an effect on a F/I car does being a mile high have on it's times?

hm you just need practice. You need to just drive the car quickly and let it assist you with your speed. If you try to force this car off the line your gonna spin till no end. When you are at the strip practicing get a nice start by letting the car out as if your just taking off from the light on the road. You wouldn't try to spin out the tires during such a time so if you had this same method on the track you woulda got a much better start. Also take it easy on your shift to learn exactly where they are when your driving so that you dont grind a gear.
Some people may say those are bad times for a Cobalt, but if you look at your competition that day and how they did, I'd say you're on the right track.
It's not how you measure up on a clock, it's how you measure up to the guy running beside you.

Just git'r done! Keep trying man. You did good taking it easy the first time. Worst thing you could of done is get good times on the first runs and possibly damage something. Your goal is to go have fun and not impress others. By having fun eventually you will be better than the competition because you will be more relaxed.

fuel injection or carbs, doesn't matter, you just don't have to re-tune FI.
forced induction?
a supercharger will not see AS MUCH a decrease as a NA car, but it's still there.

im a comp packaged RL, in first gear with clutch in rev to 2krpm and slowly drop to 1800rpm. then let go of the clutch as fast as you can, dont feather the clutch cuz u will do damage to it. dont go WOT till you shift into 2nd gear. thats hos i do it and i got an aem intake, other than that im super stock. hope that helps
Congrats man 15.06 is DAMN good for your first time and at 5500' none the less! I ran 15.1 my first time at only 93 mph! I got my car about a month to late because now its too hot to get good times but I still managed a 14.8 at 96 in like 90 degrees. I think practicing in horible conditions (5500') makes you better because then you can't rely on the car to do all the work. You gotta launch perfectly, shift perfectly and just hope you did a good enough job for a 14.x reward. My 14.8 means alot to me cause it was so crappy out side. If you get in the 14s at that altitude you should be able to get mid 14s easily at a lower altitude track. I can't wait til it cools down here!

Oh, and by F/I I meant forced Induction, sorry.
oh... sorry I didn't see that you had stage 2. I did the 15.1 with just exhaust and the 14.8 in worse conditions with the exhaust and intake. I would think even in 5500' with some practice you should be in the 14s, especially with stage 2.
With stage 2 you should be getting at least mid 13's. There dynoing in at almost 300hp at the crank and around 240-250 to the wheels. Sorry but you need alot of practice. I cant really talk tho cause I havn't been to the track yet but on the street im beating high 13 and low 14 second cars by about 1 car length.

I guess I need more track practice. Ill go back in a few weeks with less people so I can get more runs in (with my dampner and intake). Thanx for all your input and sorry for being slow.
