116FANATIC:
You've got to be careful. Regardless of how abandoned your "track" is, it's not the appropriate place to be racing. The liabilities are tremendous; and, not just to you. If you crashed your car and hurt anyone else, or just caused property damage, your parents (guardians) are liable for your mistakes with you being a minor. They could lose their house, cars, or any other assets they worked so hard for. Just remember that when you're enjoying your youth.
When I was your age, I took those things for granted and almost cost my parents a lot.
That being said, if you're going to go crazy, be very attentive of your surroundings. Neighborhoods, playgrounds, sidewalks, and an overall clear track. The higher your speed gets the smaller of an obstacle could spell disaster. As for tips, with an automatic transmission, there is no benefit of taking it out of "D." That's the whole point of having the transmission do the work for you, hence "automatic." The ability to choose those selections is to allow cruising at higher rpm's safely while your car is under an increased load (towing). Leave it in "D" and just concentrate on what's in front of you and what the other car is doing. You should be able to walk on the Hyundai with a decent reaction at the "hat drop."
As for your story telling...Be more specific, for the first page of this thread I thought you were a keebler elf.

Take it easy on the guy Sheesh. He can have fun too just because he is in an LS doesn't mean he can't enjoy himself.
I do have one thing to say though.

Neither is my friends 06 STI that just blew the motor. I guess a four door economical family sedan shouldn't have been racing. lol
Just an update- I finally raced that Elantra. IT was a GLS, I smoked him the first time. THe second time we were nose and nose but he won me by like 2 inches. ONLY because my car is Auto & he is standard did he beat me. My friend mentioned something about double pumping the gas? Anyone got any ideas on how that works or how to do it?
The other day, my friend was talking smack saying that a Cobalrt is a Grandma's car, so I said lets go then? He said alright and we went to our usual track and I smoked his little Neon. Again, could someone please explain double pumping?
What it means is that it makes your auto transmission take another stab at which gear it should be in.
The idea is something like this:
On occasion, when you go 100% throttle, sometimes the tranny forgets to downshift, thinking you only want more power, and that you dont care how long it takes to get it. So, releasing the gas pedal and flooring it again gives the auto tranny another chance to pick the right gear.
Many variables affect this, but for the most part, whenever you want to go fast, let off the gas completely, THEN floor it. If practice it looks like youre "double pumping" the gas, but youre actually just trying to get your auto tranny into the right gear.
