New PB for 2.4SS

So I went back to the track today, and the conditions were very good. IT was about 12 degrees out (54 american) and sunny.

I did 7 runs, 3 of which were better then my previous best.

My new intake really helps the car out it seems as I now have to shift into 4th gear before I cross the trap.

Anyway, here is my new PB

R/T .796
60 2.358
1/4 mile 15.059
1/4 MPH 94.91

This was my first run of the day, and my best. I got a 15.061, 15.083 and two 15.3XX and two 15.5XX. The track was very inconsistent over the day.

Anyway, I am really happy for my 2.4L to have these times.

BTW - Don't shift into 2nd gear instead of 4th at the end of a run, the clutch doesn't like it. I had my best 60 foot of the day, a 2.23, and I was flying down the track then hit 2nd gear instead 4th a bit before the trap. I still ran a 15.061 @ 92MPH when my best time was 15.059 @ 94.91MPH. That had 14's all over it.

Man I hate you people that live at sea-level (or near)! Hopefully my folks will retire in Kelowna (BC) and I can take my car out to Mission.

Seriously your car is a freak! Great times.

thats a really good 60ft time. Mine are around 2.3-2.5 I cant leave the hole with out wheel hoping, or the tires breaking loose toward the end of 1st gear. Very respectable time for the N/A 2.4 SS.

computer wouldn't print out the 330ft or the 1/8 mile times. I don't know why, but yeah, I have the slips here, I'll post them tomorrow once I get my camera back.

Everyone thinks MikeSS has factory freaks, but he's just a good driver

He was squeezing low 15's out of his 2.2L Alero!

well no two cars run exactly the same.....maybe you have the best one!!!

Still trying to figure out how your trapping 9mph higher then me

Now the elevation takes care of about 5mph of that but..... How the heck do you do it? How many kms on your car? Maybe its more broken in?

wait....these were your first runs with your CAI right? So that got you 0.2.

You ever come to calgary, your welcome to race my car

Car has 10 000KM on it, but now it is ticking a lot. Time to go to GM for warranty work.

ask permafried how much time I took off his car when I did a run for him in his 2.2L cobalt.

When I raced my car had under 3,000kms on it.

You don't powershift do you? I amnot new to drag racing---just fwd manuals! But I am pretty good--standards area bitch to get consistent.

No Powershifts. and yeah, I was real inconsistent, anywhere from 15.0 to 15.5

Nice times Mike...looks like a high 14 is in reach for next season . Hopefully the ticking isn't anything major...I'm approaching 10,000km myself and notice I hear more cracks, etc. but that could also be due to the weather getting colder in a hurry. As for the times off my car we just won't mention what I ran being my first time out . A driver can definitely make all the difference...mine hadn't seen any driving like that up until you jumped in the driver's seat...maybe I can improve next year as I get more experience with standard .

EDIT:

Detrini...let's just say the car hit a 16.1 and that was with nearly a full tank of gas, tire pressure at 32psi and the spare tire/jack still in the trunk. It was pretty much a rush to get a couple runs in with it before the track closed and Mike made the last one of the night which was the best of the runs .

I edited the post once I saw yours but guess you missed it . He hit a 16.1 @ 85.65mph and at the time the car had just under 7500km on it. The previous post also explains the state of the car when he made the run as best I can remember .

That's starting to sound like a segment in a car mag or on C&D...you might just have something there . Something tells me he wouldn't argue if someone offered to let them run their SS/SC down the strip though after that 3rd to 2nd shift I'm not sure who's going to step up to the plate on that one (j/k).
