New Slicks - could use some pointers...

OK so i just bought some used rims and slicks.

Specs:
RIMS are 15" diameter, 8.5" wide, roughly 3.75" back spacing, 5x4.5 and 5x4.75

TIRES 26" tall, 10"wide, 15" these are on it already (no fitment issues) MT's biasply tubed slicks

Hub Adapters 1.25" thick 5x4.75

Does anyone think this will not work?

Does anyone have any pointers on what to look for specifically?

I do know that the 26" tall is going to be cutting it close. the wheel well is not the issue, the spring seat is what im worried about.

Please help, im trying to get into the 12's before the tracks close. my quickest e/t is 13.27@107.40

Thanks Guys,
Bill

Have you looked around to try and find a tire that is going to be The 26's should work well but I have a feeling the tires will rob more power than its worth on a supercharged car. What can your car do mph wise in third on the street tires.

Don't know too much about slicks yet but IMO that's too much tire for your power level.

Chris,
3rd gear; with a hair shorter of a stock tire will get to 112ish before it wants to float a valve thats at like 7250rpm

i was thinking my trap speed would pick up a little since the tires are going to hook and itll stretch out the gear ratios a little.

i dont think i will lose too too much with a 26 tall

Yea I am not as worried about the height as the width. 10 wide is huge. I would do a 24.5x8.5m and h. Almost stock height and will give a little growth at 100+

well its a 10inch tire on an 8 inch wheel so you get like 8.75 inch of contact patch because it pulls it in so much

i have to say im worried about width too.

As far as clearance I am not worried. You have a big spacer in there. Have to wait and see about fender clearance.

That's a thick spacer. I run a 26x9.5x16 Hoosier QTP. Contact patch is only like 8ish IIRC. Full biasply.

It rubs slightly on strut when they balloon out, but thats it. I am also pushing a lot more power than you, though.

I plan on running a .5" spacer to fix all my problems.

Thats what I run.

Also Bill we can throw the 24's on as well to see if it makes a differance.

What size wheel do you run them on? I'm going to pick me up 15X6.5 VW steelies. A lot of people use the PT Cruiser 15X6 steels.

outside fender should be good, we set them next to the tires that are on there and it still cleared on height

Chris, that would be neat... we could do the same for you too to see if you benafit from my tires.

WSFrazier, how much power do you have and what kind of times are you running?

I went with a thick spacer because i can always shave some off (roomate is a tool and die maker) plus i really dont want to cut my stock studs.

Anyone have to cut their studs using a lug adapter? or am i the only one?

I never dyno'd but would guess around 340ish running a TVS.

I ran a 12.6@116 with a shitty 2.0 60ft. Which is sad cause I could pull 2.0s on street tires. Owner before me was pulling 1.7 60fts with footballs in the rear, so I might try that, too.

I am installing my WOT box today for 2-step and NLS. Should be able to launch better more consistently and shave some tenths off with shifting.

Yeah, WHP. I run a 2.7" on TVS w/ E85. Stock exhaust (cat-delete) and no cooling mods.

I'm guessing 340ish judging by the 116 trap.

What did you trap in the 1/8th? (Never been to a 1/4 yet just seeing what a 116 trap would look like)
