So here is an update on the first time at the track. It is running a Spec head 296ci motor with 1 4 barrel carb and it weighs in at 2900 lbs. For a list of the rules click here.

Here it is on the way to weigh in (yes i filmed amost every move this car made that night).


Here is the first pass and we realized that the wheelie bars needed to come up just a tad.


After removiing the rear valance and raising up the wheelie bars a bit we realized that we had a problem with the new carb (not gearing, dumb joke).


We brought the car back and put on the spare carb "Old Faithful" and made the first all out pass. It was the third pass ever in this car and set the track record by index with a 6.50 winning the race (kind of hard to tell with a digital camera recording)

Last pass of the night and had some engine trouble.


The track will be open again on the 21st and I will have some more videos coming.

The current motor is a single 4 barrel 296 small block chevy with spec heads. Mix that with a wicked cam, a real short throw crank, and a right foot made of lead and you come up with this 10,000rpm monster.

Not a cobalt??? It's got a cobalt dash, cobalt headliner, cobalt windows, cobalt sheetmetal (-hood), and a VIN number. We just threw out all of the things we thought that GM did wrong. Hell it's still got power windows.

Thanks a lot man. We like the constructive criticism, but when it comes down to it, guys like you are the reason we put this car on here.

 

how much work would it be to make this thing run in a class such as Super Comp in the NHRA series?

It was built for Super Stock. Might go Super Mod. It will mainly run at a local 1/8th mile heads up (#/cu. in.) track in Bethany, MO but it could find it's way to a few outlying areas. These guys AREN'T bracket racers!

Seriously! He likes to let the heat out on the return road!!!

 

i meant super stock (my bad), just figured the car was probably built for bigger and better things than tearing up the local 1/8 track. either way nice car. when you go to SS make sure and check out the wyotech balt

 

Glad to hear you finally got to the track and made great times.
I am curious (for obvious reasons) if you know how much HP you are running.

Yeah, but the 1/4 mile tracks around here have different rules and it will run mid to low 9s with the other motor
