Ran 13.2-13.6-13.7's at 103-106 at Milan

Well, just wanted to update on what happend on Sat at Milan.

Car ran mid 13's at 103-106 mostly with a slipping clutch. I did get one really good pass in without any clutch slippage. Yes, my Spec Stage 3+ clutch slipped. I was a bit pissed to say the least. The clutch started to slip once I hooked hard. I bought some 26x9.5x16 Hoosier QTP tires and the same rims Rob runs... Sport F6's. I didn't want to do any burnouts to heat up the tires in fear I was going to totally toast the clutch after that one pass. I just spun the tires a little and launched with the clutch slipping in 1st and on some shifts. When I did try to do a burnout the clutch would just let loose in 1st and spin right up. So I just barely heated the tires on each run. I was fighting for traction, but it was better then breaking anything like the clutch totally or an axel. I still wanted to drive it home after. 60foots were 1.96-2.1's

We had the track rented from 8:30am to 12:00 pm for a motown muscle event. This was at Milan Dragway in Michigan. I even took home $20 for 4th place in one of the class's. Ran mid 13's at 103 most of the day with one good pass of a low 13.

Here is a link to one of the posts for our local car club...I'm Wikidta on there

Last passes posted is one where I hooked hard 1.96 and the clutch slipped bad midway... the last one was the only decent run I got in without any slippage. I couldn't back it up, but mid 13's with the clutch issues.

Anyways.... after the clutch issue I couldn't attend Norwalk on Sunday.. Ohh well, at least it happend close to home.

So how is the clutch now? Are you noticing any slip just in daily driving?

Thanks... but I can't claim that low till I back it up a few times. So far the only consistant runs were mid 13's with issues. Ya, the Spec clutch works great on the street, but once you put a bit of load(TRACTION) on it...it couldn't hold.... very dissappointed..... Now I have to figure out what the heck next to do... Waiting till someone makes a clutch that will hold... ACT or RPS??

Hmmm...I can't wait to run slicks or DRs and finally join the burnt-up clutch club.

Na I was actually running 11.5-12.0 A/F kinda rich...yes tunned for it...
Average scan reading on the aeroforce gauge was 890-920's on those pass's. I didn't have the wideband installed on the car, but did before I went out there two days prior.

Thanks... ya the clutch isn't that bad on the street..holding decent untill I really stomp on it. It will spin the tires but once it grips it will slip. At first I thought I just glazed the flywheel or something. I'll take it apart sometime this week and check it out.

Added the timeslip pics I took with the digicamera... sorry for the quality, but that is the best I could do. Don't have a scanner.

I ran 13.715@102.69 today on my stock tires and the clutch slipped in 2 gears on the thrid run. Then it never slipped again as I made 10 more passes. 70 drag pases on the clutch 22.3k 60 intense stage 3. I have a 2.6 with the intense kit and a K&N. I'm gonna order a CM fx400 6-puck...is the flywheel really worth it? idk if i want to buy it or it it would bestreetable with that agressive fx400

damn, that intense stage 3 sounds like it really makes BIG power! I wonder if GM will produce a stage 3 that can match it?

There isn't any warranty on this part ? Or at least give them a call and ask a refund, since the clutch is slipping already at way less more torque than they advertise it can hold ! Fight man those parts are expensive !

Very nice times, it's great to see some solid evidence of how effective different vendors offerings are as far as track times. That is a little concerning about the stage 3 clutch slipping though...

There were 6 Cobalts there I think. Everyone ran 13s except one person who was stock I think. There was a 13.91, 13.81, Dan's 13.71, a 13.3x, and a 13.1x. Track was great, we would have liked to have seen you there. I actually ran my street tires and got better 60' at full pressure because anything below normal psi and I was bogging the launch from sticking so hard. The track was prepped awesome. This was only my second time racing and I know I got spoiled!

Hopefully we can run some good times at Milan in a couple weeks even if the track prep isn't great.

I'll let everyone post their own times and mods cause I don't know what everyone had done. I just wanted to give ENUFPWR an update of what he missed. Oh, I ran the 13.81. I have the Intense kit.

Great times despite the bunk clutch Daren . After almost a $1000 for a spec 2+ and fidenza and a entire day thrashing yesturday ....Im gonna be sick if this clutch does the same thing .

So whats next ? Gave any thought to clutchmasters ?

sweet times at the strip. With a bunch of you guys running 13's like that, that's great publicity for all cobalt ss's. Maybe the world will think twice before acting like total asses to you guys now. lol.

Ya.. Thanks man... That's sweet that everyone running these kits are now track proven 13 sec cars..... Did Rob run any 12's?

Milan was prepeped pretty good also, but not nearly like Norwalk. I think I probably would have blown my clutch completely if the tires would have stuck better. These kits are making some power....

The clutch's...hummm maybe mine is the only one that's weak/defective.... who knows... I think I might check out clutchmasters race versions or wait till someone comes out with a stronger one. I'll give Spec a call once I take it apart and see what they say.

Congrats to everyone... Damn.... I wish I could of made it.
