Ran with the TVS :(

I ran my car down the strip and didn't do good at all, I was spinning throughout 2nd. I was trying everything to gain traction but my tires wouldn't let it happen. I launched at 2,000RPM and rode the clutch and eased into the throttle. Here are the best runs:

.3100 - Reaction
2.3750 - 60 FT
9.7270 - 1/8 ET
78.68 - 1/8 MPH
14.5951 - 1/4 ET
103.39 - 1/4 MPH

My friend drove it down once and got this.

.7199 - Reaction
2.3811 - 60 FT
9.6611 - 1/8 ET
77.72 - 1/8 MPH
14.6049 - 1/4 ET
99.76 - 1/4 MPH

I don't under stand how his 60 FT was worse but the 1/8 TH was better, I trapped at 103 MPH and he trapped at 99 MPH. How did he managed to run the same time as I did? I realize these are horrible times but once I get some DR's and full 3" exhaust with Meth and a tune... I'm on a mission for 12's then.

damn i ran faster with my m62 with a worse 60 foot.

usually i go around the burnout box, then a quick burn to get any crap i picked up on the tires between driving back to the lanes again.

what did you do before staging?

Yeah. need work on them 60 fts man. Possibly better tires would be needed though. Looks like you started picking up speed after the 1/8 though.

Yeah traction is key, Get some Dr on or a set of slicks. If your where close to me i would let you slap my slicks on for the track.

Once you get a set of tires your going to be good to go.

Thanks, I went around the burnout box. Then I went to the dull spots on the track; it's supposed to stick better. It just annoyed me that I was ripping 3rd gear and on the street I barely get 3rd.

I have 60's but currently am putting in my 80's. I have an Injen intake, badmab shorty header, hahn 3" catted dp, spec 3+ clutch, tvs with 3.15 pulley, magnaflow muffler on stock pipe.

My tune isn't that aggressive, my afr's are from 11.6 and then up top 11 flat. I'm running 16.5* of timing. It's just a basemap.

I have some crappy off brand tires that don't grip. I was smoking them through the 1/8th, LOL the guys couldn't believe my car could do that.

Not even trapping 110 with a blower upgrade? Let alone 105.

Nothing the M62 couldn't do, why even upgrade?

I'm not tuned yet. I need to get meth. I upgraded because I got a deal on the setup and the potential. I understand what your saying because I was saying the same thing. With the M62 I was trapping 101MPH with a 2.24 60 FT

I wasn't even that upset. After the first run I figured it would be a spin fest for me. I need to save.

I felt the same way last time i went on the m62. Had cooling issues or something and knew after the first run i was screwed for the night. Thats when i decided to just turbo swap it. Just dropped it off yesterday too.

I'm pretty much jealous, lol. I'd love to turbo swap but I don't have funds.

That's impressive, I own this car already and don't need another car. I love the way it drives and looks. I average 7.5L/ 100KM and on the highway I get 4.4L/100KM with my TVS. Nearly 54MPG

you know dont take offense to this, but these are the threads that make me hesistant on buying the tvs. I run 13.1 at 108 on street tires without meth. yes driver has something to do with it, but get that thing tuned and at least hit some high traps. Frazier and area are one of the few that have actually posted decent times on the TVS, and frazier has bare minium but important mods. Im tempted to do it just to show the potential of this blower with the FEW that have already.

I have been trying to go to the track since early April to try for 12.0 flat. Every single day has been rained out so far. Pittsburgh weather is terrible this season.

I've been so ready, I have been just daily driving with the slicks on the car, and just yesterday alone, I got stuck twice because of rain, when I should of been at the track.

Sucks.

To make nice power with the TVS, you need octane and an awesome timing map (aka Tune). I always tell people, if your just going to use 93, it isn't worth the money. I am even hesitant to tell people to get it if they are still running Meth.

You'll never hit 12's in the car with a 103mph trap. Traction or no traction.

You've got some work to do on the tune obviously.

I have a set of Republic Ultra HPR GT tires. They are loud when driving and have a 360 tread wear. I only got them because they were cheap and local. As far as tuning goes I will be getting OntarioKev/ SSKev on another forum to tune it. I just need to save for meth and an exhaust.

My timing isn't aggressive at all. 16.5* top end at WOT and mid to low 11's under WOT.

I currently got my 80# injectors in and it really needs a tune now. I know this was pathetic, the track I went to isn't a good track but it's one of the closet to my house. People from Ontario will know of it, Sparta in St. Thomas... St.Thomas Dragway.

I'm not even that upset, I need more seat time after my modifications and tune. I also have to fix my sticky lifter first. Thanks for the input.

I wish I could've ran a 13.1 with the M62 on street tires, what tires are you using?

as others said you need a tune, up timing, run meth, lean it out, then you will make some power

Well at least you got something to base your improvement on, and you were man enough to post up your times so we can help you out. Get your new mods on and get it tuned and you will be trapping 110+mph, the E.T. will be all on your driving. Hell I was trapping 109.7mph on the m62 on a 2.5" dp and a flat 25* timing map. So dont be discouraged, just practice and get a good solid tune on there after your new mods and get back to us!

agreed. the tvs is way more capable than a 103mph trap. hell, last year in 95 degree, 95% humidity weather with no working fans on the car I still trapped 108 on nothing but 93 pump gas

Thank you, I don't see why people get upset about running a pathetic time. Sure I'm not pumped about my times either but like you said, it is a base to start off of.

I wish I would have been able to trap that with the M62, maybe my driving skills need MUCH more help.

I agree with infra. it's a base to start off on, and you'll get better. I'm only saying that unless you're taking almost a second to shift through each gear, the problem is probably more in the tune than your driving. I would get the tune fixed first, then worry about driver mod v2.0

just to validate how bad sparta is, its terrrrrrrrrible lol. been there a couple times, and even stock i couldnt stop from spinning second. although, with the lack of traction, i dont seem to get wheel hop there lol. my friends fox body 5.0 runs 12's all day at cayuga (a track about 2 hours away from sparta) and was barely able to get into the 13's one night at sparta. he couldnt hook to save his life. the track is known to be slow.

Tennpenn was saying he trapped 108 on the TVS on 93 pump gas, not the M62. Just so you feel a little better lol
