ss/sc vs mercedees amg clk 500
ss/sc vs mercedees amg clk 500
My girlfriends mom drives an amg clk 500 and her dads saying that it would beat my ss/sc stage 2. Its stock and has 300 hp and 340 tq but i think it weighs like 4000lbs. Can I take it?
it not the amg if its the 500 class. The 55 is the amg. It has 306 hp and 339 lb-ft torque. And yes it weights in at about 4000 lbs. they are quick, but there 0-60 is around 6 secs. I don't know what your mods are, but if you are a stage 2 or better, you should be just fine if you can drive.

if it is the clk 55, then the hp goes up to 342 and 376 lb-ft

It's got an auto 5 and waaayyy more torque..... There's a 90% chance that he leaves you many many car lengths behind. Plus... think of the cost difference--- you get what you pay for.

^funny, but i doubt that would happen.
i change my vote. dont race him unless its at the track, he very well could be testing you to see if you'd be responsible with his daughter in the car.

that holds no water at all..i would dust him, very badly..
hell, theres probably 20 or more cobalts on here that would embarass him.

Haha i already screwed myself when i raced his sons mustang. Also raced his 1967 gt 350 in my friends sti with my girlfriend in the car so im already fucked!
what year is it? if its older than 06 and its just the clk500 you should be close. the amg model was the clk55 that would kill you, but the sport package on a clk500 was amg rims and suspension, plus the interior amg emblems, sometimes a trunk emblem. so they were called clk500 amg. it would be the standard 500 engine, 302hp, 5speed auto and its a heavy car. the clk was a fast car at highway speeds and passing not off the line.
but back to determining what model it is...if its a coupe its most likely a 500, the clk55 was only sold as a cabriolet in the US until model year 2006. whats the exhaust? single exhaust tip, its just a 500, the 55 had a daul tip. the newer models have a single tip, but the are the 550 and the amg, which is now a clk63, has quad exhaust. and does it look like your common clk?? the AMG model has different bumpers and side skirts, 18 or 19 inch rims, HUGE brakes.
the seven speed didnt come into play until the clk350, 550, and 63 were introduced. and the new clk is pretty fast. with those two extra ratios the 6 cylinder would probably run pretty close to a stock ss/sc, maybe better.

As for the owner of the CLK being referred to, if it is a CLK500 and he's referring to it as an AMG, then he's a poseur.
Performance-wise the CLK55 is a low 13 second car. It has the same 355hp NA engine as my SLK55, but I'm able to run consistent 12.7-8's due to it's lighter weight. The CLK500 is high 13's at best.

why even ask??? why not just go for it. You should know what kills your car can make. I just don't see the point in asking. If your not into racing then it doesn't matter. If you are, do it and let us know.
