Taller Tires FTW!!!

So I had a set of 4 used 235/45R17 tires laying around the shop with perfect tread on them well above the wear bars. The Redline comes stock with a 215/45R17. I decided against better judgement (for fear of rubbing) to put these bad boys on my car last night after I was finishing up work. I figured the width couldn't hurt because it would help for a little more traction, which is like a prayer in this car. The taller tire helped fill in some wheel gap also. Not only did it not rub at all (which makes me want to do a 245/40) BUT it also let me finish the 1320 in 3rd gear at PRP today. After some calculations it looks like 3rd will take me clear to 110mph (About 107 on the speedo) with that tire size on there. It also means a higher top speed by about 5mph. IF I could ever actually get the car to 185mph lol.

Results from opening day are as follows:

First run
R/T : .4211 (oops)
60' : 2.3700 (like I said, traction)
1/8 : 9.2648 @ 80.06
1/4 : 14.1042 @ 102.76

Second run
R/T : .0698
60' : 2.5727 (umm...yeahhhh)
1/8 : 9.5012 @ 80.72
1/4 : 14.2751 @ 105.49

Third run
R/T : -.0263 (tried a different launch. fail.)
60' : 2.3153
1/8 : 9.3092 @ 75.98
1/4 : 14.2642 @ 102.81 (I even missed third)

On the second two runs I dropped tire pressure to 25psi from 32psi, obviously of no help. My downfall on the second was that I laid into it too much too soon and wheelhopped like an SOB. I like the trap speed though on that run. It would have been an easy 13.8 @ 107 or so if I had pulled the seemingly normal for the day ~2.3 60' time. I'm curious about the third run also. I picked up 26.83mph (up from 22.7 and 24.77) AND I even missed getting into third on the first attempt at around 70mph. It probably could have been an easy 104mph trap with a 14.0 et. I'm sure the taller tires are hurting my take off with the extra inertia to overcome, but they more than make up for it with a smoother ride and better look from the side.

God I can't wait to get the turbo stuff on there.
