Terrible night at the track!

I had the WORST night at the track last night. This was my first time to the track since getting GM Stage 2 installed and I ran worse then when I was stock!

My best time when stock was 14.58 @ 98.45 with a 2.22 60'
Last night with Stage 2 and K&N my best was 14.83 @ 100.94 with a 2.55 60'

Also, sadly that was my best trap - 100.94MPH when I was stock my best trap was 100.91MPH

Traction was non-existent due to big-rig semi's racing and dragging water all over the track (yes they were actually racing semi's and dump trucks) 2.48 was my best 60' for the night.

Now it was extremly humid last night, it was about 80* F and the air was so thick it almost looked like fog.

Has the humidity hurt anyone else this bad? Is there something wrong with my car? I'm running on the stock spark plugs which have 19,000 KMs on them, should I swap them out?

Any advice, please help!

It sucked! My first run I tried slipping the clutch at 1500rpm and achieved a 2.95 60'. The highly modded SRT-4 I was racing was on full slicks and he only managed a 2.63 60'.

At first the guys in the big-rigs were keeping their a/c on so they were literally dripping water on the track.

The poor traction explains my poor times somewhat but I am still very disapointed with my trap speeds. I mean aside from a tiny bit of spin at the 1-2 shift I had traction for the rest of the track. I had such high expectations for stage 2 and then to run nothing but 15s and a couple high 14s - it feels pretty crappy!

What kind of times were the trucks running?

As far as your trap speeds was air more humid then when you ran stock?? Because it is possible that you are making less power because of the humidity with stage 2 then when you were stock and the air was good.

Most were running between 22-28 seconds @ 53-65MHP. The fastest one was a really surprising 17 seconds (can't remember the trap). They were actually smoking their tires on launch.

What really sucked though was that they were so slow on the return road that we were held up in traffic trying to get our time slips. We actually had to stop and it was bumper-to-bumper on the return road - crazy.

Ya, the track was actually having an event, the 'Truck Nationals'. They were supposed to be finished during the afternoon and the track was to hold Run What Ya Brung in the evening. Rain delayed the afternoon events so they ran both in the evening. I'll tell you it looked pretty stupid seeing these trucks race. One clipped the loudspeaker wire strung across the track with his exhaust. Many of the truckers would lay on their horn as they raced the 1/4 mile - it was pretty lame.

Don't feel so bad. The best I could get out of my Mustang was a 14.32 @ 98.5 mph with a pretty good 60' of 2.192. Temps at my track were 90 with a humidity of 10%. The heat is a killer.

I made it back to the track only one more time for the year, in September. The track was very well prepped and I focused too much on my launch. I was getting consistent 2.1x for 60' (on stock Pirelli's). My problem was that the car WAS running well and stupidly I kept flooring the gas in 2nd and I kept spinning my right wheel (no LSD) so alas I still haven't broken my stock 1/4 mile time. Also it was a busy day at the track so I only got a few runs in.

I'm planning to go earlier this year (April & May) while the weather is still cool and hopefully I'll get the 13s I'm after.
