Test and Tune at PRP

Finally took the SS/SC up the track and i was pretty happy with what i ran for the first time going. I ran a 14.2 with a 2.4 60' and trapped at 101mph. The fastest i trapped was 103mph but only ran a 14.5 and my best 60' was a 2.2 but i ran a 14.6 so its going to take alot of practice. Launching these cars isnt the easiest thing to do, i get nothing but spin or wheel hop in 1st.

I'll 2nd that....Not a fun car to launch!

I struggled with traction issues the whole night. Oddly enough, my middle run ( 3rd of 5 ) was the best one. 14.9 @ 96.75mph. Reaction times blew since I'm not used to launching a stick, and my 60's were abysmal. After the 1/8th mile the car came alive.

Next time, I won't be as nervous, nor will I be as stupid @ the tree.

Good turnout by all the Pittsburgh crew!
Clutchmaster Wes
Rubbermaid-Dan
The "non-ss" SS of George ( that's what some kids apparently said when he beat me... "look that SS lost to a NON-SS" )
Twin-Loop Dan
and yours truly... the black slug

There was acutally another SS/SC out there that wasn't with us, that Yellow one.

Can't wait for the next runs!

I need some tires that are more track friendly, but then I'd be worried about TOO much traction and breaking an axle.

I got a pic or two of my runs thanks to Ed's ( my srt bud ) wife, Laura.

I'll post later...coffee time... still not awake

Vids are coming...as well as time slips. Wes and "twin loop" Dan will be uploading and scanning the vids and slips. My best run ALL NIGHT I was in the 15.1s at 94.7 MPH with 2.3 60' foot times. I'd either get too much wheel spin or wheel hop. If I could get it to hook up and not spin the horribly hard all season tires without wheel hop, it'd be and easy 14.8 time.

Alas, I had to baby it out of the hole and let it run to the end...kinda disappointed because I know I did beat an SS/SC (it on film) however i wanted 14s so bad.

A simple tire change will get the 14s...but now we (twin loop Dan and I ) may have other boosting plans along with Big Dan.

yes yes yes... I uploaded my pics of you beating the crap out of me... I have no shame!

I could've ran mid 14's easy had I had better grip at the start and been better at launching the car.

There was more than one occasion that I bounced off the rev limiter getting ready to shift.

I'd love to get some stickier tires, but then I'd be afriad of breaking something in the driveline, like axles and such.

Man, I missed drag racing!

At least none of us had to go against the hottie driving the lightning... that thing ran consistent low to mid 12's....

Yeah it was a good time. I enjoyed it, even with my slow car... haha.

My official times in order:
1) 15.852 @ 87.24
2) 15.865 @ 86.02
3) 15.621 @ 88.80
4) 15.660 @ 88.67
5) 15.663 @ 88.27

First two runs I still had my spare tire in, subwoofer, and stock airbox parts (all in the trunk). So it looks like I was consistent at least.

GTP-- what were your eight mile times and mph, haven't gotten to a 1/4 track and yours will prolly be the best to judge mine off of.

Mine was ( if I remember right... no slips on me )

1) 15.225@ 94.1
2) 15.120@ 91.XX
3) [B]14.97 @ 95.XX[B]
4) 15.88@ 96.95 ( or 96.75.. something like that )
5) 16.2XX@ 91.XX

So... you may have been "slow" but on run #4 when we ran together... you beat me. It don't matter how you win... it's still a win.

I didn't win a race the whole night... dam mustangs!

WSFrazier will scan in all my time slips but they were all consistent 15.1s. I can't remember what the 1/8th mile time and speed were but they should be alot better had I not been on the stock Flintstone tires. They have no grip and it was a toss up for me at each start to modulate wheel spin and wheel hop. I was surprised I was pulling consistent 2.3 60' foot times???

I lost one race all night long, was faster than a built GSR, New civic SI, Prelude, a few SS/Scs ahem.. and only lost to a potent WRX (vid is coming) I had him out of the hole, but all wheel drive FTW.

Thanks Brian. Although I owned you for one race, you ultimately got your car to hook up better and eventually posted a faster time. So I have to give props. Heads up though and on the street I must admit I don't lose often. Its the old racer in me that keeps coming out....gotta stop hanging with you wild youngsters.

Dare I say low-low 14s with lightweight wheels with good tires, a torque brace to eliminate wheel hop ( so I can launch harder than 2000 rpms) and the ZZ Perf. cat less downpipe, header, my twin loop and 2.5 inch exhaust is certainly feasible all motor after Big Dan and I get into the ECm with the HP Tuners Software.
