When to shift

Wheres the best points to shift at when running in the quarter...

Opinions please and back them up if you can.

My best run 14.7 @ 94 was redlining each gear (never hit the rev limiter)

Would I be better off shifting at around 6200-ish?

Thanks,
Rich

That is definatly a very good question because I would like to know as well. I will be making my first trip to a track soon and do not want to look like a total n00B.

I would imagine your time has to do with the difference in sea level. Shifting at 6500 rpm is optimal. My best time with a 2.3 60ft was 98mph @ 14.6 , I can easily see with more practice a reduction of .5 and getting a 14.1 . I was only launching at 1.5k rpm

That was my first time at the track. Also slip that clutch when you shift.
