you need to specify what mods, some base cobalts on this site can take ss/sc but they have a **** load of mods on them

G5 GT is a 2.4 correct? Standard or Auto. You have some bolt ons that will help you and the b&m shift plus. It should be close in my opinion.

 

both are autos.

gt is a 2.4 and base is 2.2

i think the gt's got ya..for the race id put on your stock rims so they are lighter..those 18's are just hurting your performance

From experience, I have a friend who has a Cobalt LT coupe 5 speed with short throw, CAI, muffler, and ETD. My wife has the SS/NA sedan 5 speed, only mod is a modified Nitro antenna. She knows how to race consistently. The LT ran the 1/4 abotu 1/2 second faster at the same track on the same day. LT ran a 16.5, SS/NA ran 17.0. Before I get flamed for it being coupe versus sedan and how the sedan is heavier which makes it slower, it doesn't make it 1/2 second slower. From what I understand about 100 lbs. = 1/10th of a second. There is no way the sedan SS/NA is 500 lbs. heavier than a LT coupe. So, I can see the times being closer if the SS/NA were a coupe, but I think the LT would have won anyways. Therefore I voted for the base G5. BTW, the LT is daman on yourcobalt.
