06 SS auto to manual?

Hey guys,

I currently own an automatic 2006 Cobalt SS, and recently I've been thinking about a trans swap to make it a stick.

The other option I was thinking about was to just sell my current car and buy one in stick to save myself the hassle of doing the numerous hours of work required. But the car was sideswiped and since repaired before I purchased it, so the value isn't as high that I could sell it at.

My question to you guys is whether it would be worth my time and money to do this?

Thank you very much in advance!

not really worth it. Boost or spray it. Make it a little more interesting

IMO, not really worth it. But you have to decide what you're willing to pay and how much time you have to dedicate. Research it and you'll see very few, if any, people have done it.

Even if someone was giving you a parts car for free I still dont think it would be worth it.
Sell what you have and get an SC or TC.

Judging from the majority of feedback from everyone, I think what I will try to do is sell my car and just buy another one. The amount of time to perform all the work is making me think twice.

Automatics really aren't that bad.

4t45 can handle power. Although it would be fun "playing around" in the gear I still don't think its worth the time and effort. If you do then good for you. You'd be the first person to do it on these forums.

The lazies of the world (mostly North American world) are going to do everything they can to make sure that doesn't happen.

Where I live, having an automatic is nice because of the traffic in North Jersey, but I just like the feel of driving a manual that much more. Just my personal preference I guess.

I've been researching more on the trans swap, and it would just turn into to much work for just me. I'll have to see how much I can get for my car now and see if I can get a reasonably priced one to play around with in the garage.

I've been stuck in a few traffic jams with my car and its really not that bad, just lift the clutch a lil' and blip the gas then pop it into neutral, I really dont see how people whine about having a stick in traffic, I dont think its that bad...

Dancing with the clutch during a 1-2 hour commute home 5 days a week isn't enjoyable at all...

I did it for almost a year and it didn't bother me. I hate driving an auto. I'm going to get the Cobalt fixed up and make that my work car.

I really wish someone would try, lotsa part swapping and then a complete rewiring. I gave up dreaming about it and am now having zzp build me a custom auto.
