07 ss with LSD

I have an 07 SS cobalt with the LSD tranny. This is the second trans the car has seen it has about 40,000 on it. I have first through fifth no problems no grinding perfect no reverse though. if i adjust the cables i can get reverse sometimes with no first or second and it doesnt grind or anything ever. i have a hurst short throw and LNF shifter cable mount on the trans..... im at a loss idk what to do here because it doesnt seem like reverse is messed up due to the fact that it works occasionally i bought the car used from a buddy of mine and when he put the hurst short throw in he didnt put the reverse lockout in could this be the problem i dont think so but im at a loss haha any help would be appreciated.

If you dont have a lock out i dont see that being a problem sounds like you cant get the adjustment right on the cables. There is a certain way to adust them. I think you have to put the shifter in 4th gear release the clamps then clamp them again not 100% sure on that maybe some one can chime in and correct me if im wrong. Also alot of people have had problems out of the hurst not getting reverse if you cant fix the problem go back to the stock shifter or replace it with another aftermarket.
