Ah.. I'm sorry I thought it was a Getrag, my mistake. Still learning on the Cobalt.. new car to me. Maybe we all just suck at shifting into third, haha, jk.

I had the same proplem when trying to upshift fast. Solution...I found that I wasn't pushing it over far enough and it was jamming between the gates. I was used to my sisters eclipse that has shorter throws.

I guess it could have been the linkage also. I had to take it in and have the dealer rebuild my shifter. For some reason, after the knob popped off and wouldn't go back on, when I tried to go into reverse the shifter wouldn't go. Then it wouldn't go into first. I had to rip the boot off and pull off the linkage for the reverse lockout. Other wise I was stuck in the middle of my street. I was trying to parallel park at the time.

EDIT: I found the pushing over further trick worked before I took it to the dealership.

I used to miss third alot, but I am used to shifters that are attached to the transmission!
It's a whole nother feel using a linkange shifter.

As for syncro replacement the most expensive part is the labor, Most syncros are pretty cheap.
