Do gears on these do what rear end gears on muscle cars do? Just trying to understand the benefits better

From my perspective I didn't understand it either until I got mine in the car. The 4.45s are shorter but allow power faster which means accelerating. The car accelerates faster and has a shorter gear span compared to the stock trans is less to accelerate and pulls longer up top.

All it does is shorten the gear and allows power faster. Simple as that.

But like stated before, worth every penny. I don't regret getting them!

Ok so it is like gears on rear ends lol. Doesn't add power but manipulates it. What does your rpms look like while cruising say 65 or 70?

^ yes its exactly the same. 4.45's will improve off the line performance, and you will lose out a little on the top end.

Jeff, will these fit the F23?, IIRC the Saturn Vue 5 speeds were F23's and had 4.45's

65mph is like right at 2.6k ish and 70mph is just a hair under 3k ish. I think right at 3k though is 73mph.

So, just so you can explain the stupid outta me, all I would have to do is take the gears out of my LSJ trans, and put in these gears? I wouldn't need to change out the shaft as well? And do I NEED LSD, because my trans currently is not LSD.

yes you would need to change the gears, not sure on the exact procedure, and teh splines for the axles will not change, it doesnt affect that. and no you dont NEED LSD, but ti would be cool to add it!
