4.45 gears UPDATE
The world as I know it:
here is the scoop on 4.45 gears. There are no new ones left as separate parts. There remain 6 pinions for sale at GM but no crown wheels.
I have two sets left, myself, one is spoken for ,revolution is taking a set. the other set will be built into a trans for sale.
I have one complete new 4.45 f 35 trans that will not fit in a Cobalt as it comes from another model and has differences in main case and bellhousing. Those internals ( gears and cwp) MAY be usable there is no LSD. so: $2500 it cost me plus shipping to get the trans. Thats an expensive harvest.
NEW or REBUILT 4.45 WILL COST A LOT MORE AND THE SUPPLY IS LIMITED
Like one or two. That I know of.
fyi.
NEW REPLACEMENT F35 from GM? $4000 PLUS SHIPPING: GM price went up.
IF I had a TC I would go 4.05 rather than 3.86 for a little longer trans life. Third gear and a tall cwp really puts load on third gear, and moving the revs per mile up a bit helps the trans life. The 4.45 deals we have made, me and Mongorat, were excellent value in my opinion, but now we have been to the well so many times the well has run dry. Mongorat has already combed the scrap yards for 4.45 cwp. I am not saying you wont find any, but its going to be a hard search with little chance of success.
At ease.

ps.
replacement bell housing that is the part that gets hurt often from third gear pushing the shaft through, or the engine mount ears getting broken off in a wreck" $700.00
replacement main case, that is the part that can get damaged from gear damage forcing the shift block inside when the trans fails and distorts the case : $700.00
replacement gears sets $700.00 each
adds up fast.
Fine print lol
all prices approximate
shipping not included.
trans rebuild not included
driver mod really helps trans life.
local taxes are extra

some days i gotta laugh. "I can make them for 300 in Melbourne Australia" shipping would be 200. and you know what? All you guys including Rudy ,don't get the amount of machining it takes to make a pinion shaft gear. its not just a helical gear; its a roughly 12 inch long shaft with different splines and recesses, plus the helical gear on the end.
Have you folks ever held a set of gears in your hand? at 300 bux they were a gift. They dont have any more.
but the first guy wants to produce gears equal to or better than OEM quality for 300 bux? Let me be first inline to buy.

Alright I'll send her an email. Just got a call from my dad and he'll be leaving this Thursday so I won't have enough time to pull my current one. But the one in NY is still a green light to be at the warehouse by the 11th. If you guys want to use that transmission and put a bell housing on it that's fine. Or take it as a core and just use the parts off it for other projects that's fine as well. But I'll have to ship you my current transmission after I make the swap. So I guess what I'm saying is, when it's all said and done you will have received two transmissions from me to do with as you please in order to make that one I need.
