5th gear w/reverse lockout???

Ever since my motor swap I'm having issue getting into 5th gear NORMALLY.

I can get into 5th if I pull up on the reverse lockout. Tried fiddling around, but I can't find anything wrong.

I also just added the LNF upgrade bracket when I did the swap.
No grinding, no nothing weird but not being able to get into 5th without pulling up on the reverse knob and it slides right in.

Anyone got an idea for a fix???

Thanks,
Bratboy90

Something wrong with the shifter/shift assembly. The reverse lock is only on the shifter not like in the trans so something is catching.

I agree, it get weirder that when a friend goes in the wheel well and pushes on the shifter weight when I try 5th it also just slides right on in like normal. So awkward.

maybe the mounts are so slightly off from the original engine that it wont allow it to go in normal, you could try pulling the shifter apart and just take the reverse lock out off.

I don't think its the issue. For instance, I cant get into the right side area at all without pulling up on the reserve lockout.

Adjust your shifter cables.

Remove the front cup holders
Pull the shift boot up so you can see the shifter
Place the shifter into 4th gear
Unclip the 2 plastic cable clamps that are under the cupholder
Move the shifter around so that the back part of the reverse lockout has a tab that locks into the shifter base and are aligned to where if it came down it would interlock
Clip the plastic clamps back onto the cables while holding the shifter there

You should now be able to get into every gear. If not you could mess with the left clamp and see about getting the shifter into the correct alignment.

I will try that. I'm at work. Noticed something.

I think this may be an issue between the B&M and the upgrade bracket, but adjusting may fix it also.

If you look in the pics the metal piece to guide me along 5th(thats on the shift stick), I have to push really hard to the right and 'bend' the plastic frame guide. Then it lets me in just fine.
Reverse's issue is the notch to hold you in reserve is catching the reverse lock-out tab.

Both can be fixed with cable adjustments or dremelling. Hopefully some adjusting will fix this.

THANKS FOR THE TIP!!!!
