Auto trans rebuild

I need one now. No reverse, lurches in neutral, only have 3rd and 4th gear. Talked to a dealer and a trans place and they both said one of the clutches friction welded. (my 4th liked to slip)

GF was driving when it happened and I never told her about 4th gear so Im sure thats what happened.

Original trans for 104k. Fluid changed once at 45k. Took a good beating from me.

**** happens I guess.

I just bough Mongorats 2007 4t45e with 1800 miles for $425 shipping included. I had designs on a built one, ZZP or otherwise but will settle for a nearly new and add a zzp TC.

keep us posted, I'd love to see what can be done build wise.

Im thinking I might just throw another stock one in. Its cheap enough and Ill save at least $500 by doing it that way.

It sucks pushing the car out of the driveway every morning!

I just have to figure out if my 4th was spinning from abuse or my tune is off.

Your pushing more power than its designed for.get a giant trans cooler to help with heat.Tundra has a built 4t45 from ipt and it still fried the clutch packs together.

And change the fluid a little more often, once it burns it isn't ATF anymore. 3rd year boosted now and I've done 3 fluid changes and 2 filters. I'd say our hobby puts these tranny through 'severe service' and PM needs to be adjusted accordingly.

Yea I should do it every 30k religiously. I did it once at 45k and thats it. 104k now.

I do have a trans cooler and it seems to help with temps.

I guess its better to have 3rd and 4th rather than be stuck with 1st and 2nd.

Since you are swapping it out, I emailed TurboTim last night about the ZZP TC. I was looking for the best stall speed for our platform and here is what he had to say:

I would go with the 2750 stall, I think that will work great. You wont need much stall because the car is light and it has a supercharger so there will never be a lack of down low power.

Just an FYI is you are going to do an easy TC upgrade.
