you should just trade your car in for a manual and spend all that extra money you got in MODSS

it's gonna be very pricey... plus factor in that you already paid 850 for an auto tranny... there's a few threads around that discuss this, i would do a quick search

x10

It'll be cheaper and if you DO the swap in your current car it will devalue it if you try to sell it and someone runs the VIN

The electronic/tuning end of it would be your stopping point. Your current ECM is setup to communicate with the TCM via the CAN bus. Elimination or a disconnected TCM would pretty much bring the swap to a grinding halt.

I'm not real good with TCM tuning or autos in general, so this is just a guess.

Uhg, not what I wanted to hear. I asked my dad about it the other day and he said the same thing. That I would be better off just trading it in

I dont know much about the trade in system but ive only had my cobalt since last august. But the only thing ive done is Rims and tires and ive thrown a performace exhaust on it. I wanna trade it in but I dont know how stressfull the process will be

the best way to learn is to talk to different dealers. It may be helpfull not to mention the situation.

well, you have to factor in the fact that you haven't made many payments, and your car lost alot of value when you took it off the lot... figure out your negative equity first... so, basically, (with totally made up #'s) if including finance fees, and all the other goodes that they tack on, if you owe 18,000 on a car, and have been paying since last august, at let's say 350/month... you've probably made 5 payments, which equals 1750 dollars... so,

Total owed = 18,000
Total Paid = 1750
Car worth = 10,000

so this means that if you get 10,000 trade in price, and you still owe 8,250, that will get tacked on to your new car... so, let's say that your new car is 15,000 + 8250 = 23,250 dollars... now let's say you finance that for 5% for 5 years, you're gonna end up paying about 27 - 30,000 for a base model cobalt...

let this be a learning lesson to research before you buy, because this is a shitty situation...

Here's what you do. Go back to the dealer, find a nice Cobalt with the Manual that you want. test drive it. If you like it, trade yours in for it.

You will lose your ass in Inequity, but it will cost less and have less problems than dropping the manual in your Auto. Guaranteed!

IT WORKS EVERY TIME!

Yeah the cost of the whole swap would probably be the same or more than just trading in the balt for one with a manual tranny and being upside down.
