Axle keeps breaking
Axle keeps breaking
Hey all my friend has a 2006 cobalt ss 2.0 5 speed manual. He changed the axles on both sides, now the passenger side keeps coming apart on the inner shaft. I do believe that it has been lowered, he bought it like it is so can't confirm that it has been lowered but it's pretty close to the ground. The shaft that came out of it measures 24 inches, the shaft they gave him is 23 inches compressed. Now from what I read the gm oem axle is 19 and some change compressed. Am I missing something here the oem axle is much shorter than the after market but the after market is to short every time he goes over a bump after replacement it pulls apart and breaks. Can anyone tell me what axle we need to get a part number would be awsome. Thanks all

ZZP LSJ Axles-Stage 1 ZZPerformance
Rear Trans Mount Spacer ZZPerformance
ZZP Steering Rack Spacers ZZPerformance
If they were cheaper brand axles I could see that happening. Those ZZP ones are good though so he should try those ones. The other alternative is to see if you can find used oem axles either maybe on ebay or craigslist or facebook market place
