Axle replacement HELP

Hey,
I replaced my driver's cv shaft/axle last year and it went bad again. Last time, I just yanked and it came out of the transmission. This time seems to be impossible. Anybody have any methods for removing it?

I've tried a pry bar and screwdriver but can't get either to fit. I even jacked the car up higher to try to get at, but I can't get anything between the frame to hit that spot.

I may call down to Advance Auto and see if they have a fwd axle puller. Please help. I had to have it towed home from work Tuesday but the Napa closed before I made it home, so I couldn't order my part til yesterday. Showed up this morning, but after 6 hours of tackling that bitch in the rain, I'm just going to call off work and hope I don't get fired.

I'd take a pic, but my phone is junk and I'm not taking the laptop out in the downpour.

New Lexington. Hour or so southeast of Columbus. If it weren't raining, I'd still be out there, but its friggin cold and I'm making no progress.

Hammer on the bearing junction in an outward slug. Don't be afraid. The retainer may just be hung up.

I had the same problem when I replaced mine, I was yanking the **** out of the axle and just when I was about to go bullshit it just .... slid out ... Then I went bullshit on how easy it came out. I think I may have turned it back and forth just right to unload any weight on the teeth and just came out. I wish I knew what happened. GL

First of all, NEVER pull on a FWD axle to get it out of the transmission, you can ruin the CV knuckle.

Second, use a prybar on the back of the axle and pry against the transmission, sometimes you need a little piece of wood in there to make up the distance, careful tho to not pry against the axle seal as you can dent it and ruin it.

Put the prybar behind the CV housing nice and tight and take of the slack, a quick smack of the prybar handle with your other hand should pop it loose.

I've done tons of cars this way and never an issue, sometimes its takes a pretty good smack tho, this works 100% of the time tho.

The knuckle was already destroyed. it locked up. As long as the old axle goes back, I get my core charge back.

I just rented an axle puller from Advance Auto. I'll get at it again tomorrow. Expensive to rent, but I get ita all back too.
