Barely any side to side . No 5th or reverse. New trans..

Okay so I ordered a ZZP stage 1 4.05 trans. Put it in, everything went well but I don't have 5th or reverse. I can't even get into 5th or reverse with the reverse lockout. . When I do push it towards 5th it goes into 3rd, but if I try to go into 3rd where it would normally be, it would still be in third. Same thing for reverse, I could be in 4th, go to put it in where reverse would be, and it would still be 4th. The shifter only moves to the right, not to the left when going side to side. When I unclip the cable clamps to the shifter, it don't move side to side. When I unclip the clamps that are on the actual trans, it moves side to side. But when I unclip the cable going to the trans and put it in the neutral position, the clamp is away from the trans and can't reach it . When all clamps are on the shifter in the neutral position is right below 3rd gear...

I had nick (BYT) help me take a look and he was stumped also, we're thinking it might e the actual trans itself, but I'm unsure.

Guys im sorry if this is extremely hard to understand, but it's kinda hard to explain ALL the symptoms over a computer. Anyone have any input?

do you have a stock shifter? unclamp the cable clips, then go to the shift lever and squeeze the lock clips to drop the blue or white block down and engage the shifter block in the 4th gear location.

then lock the cable clamps. You should be in the right position.

if the trans can shift without the cables, its not the trans, its the cable adjustment. sometimes you have to cheat the lever over a bit especially if the shift levers on the trans are bend or you cables are worn. hope thishelps.

I do have the stock shifter.. I guess I can try this web I get home tomorrow. I don't think it's anything with the position of the cables in the vehicle though. But I'll still try

later tc shifters have blue blocks; makes for nicer pictures. dont change how they work.
thing is , you say the trans shifts ok with cables off. you may have to cheat the lever over a bit. try the factory way first and then if that doesnt work, ( I have seen this happen before) then loosen the left side clamp off and cheat the lever over to the left a bit and then lock up so you have more movement to go over to 5 and R. this will move 1/2 over a bit towards u, not such a bad thing.I am sure your new zzp trans is okay.

I was thinking is there a certain way to bolt up all the mounts and what not? Maybe I didn't bolt them up all correctly and the trans Is sitting a little "off" ? Anyone have this problem after swapping a trans

if you have stock mounts its hard to get it installed wrong. If you have rotated mounts, its possible to flop the car over a bit to the passenger side, but I cant see that being your problem. Hope you can work it out.

Well from what I'm seeing with my eyes.. I'm leaning towards tha trans. Seems like Theres something in the trans that's blocking the lower shifter on the trans from going side to side. Can someone take a pic of the lower shifter on the trans side to see how far it moves side to side ?

u can get to fifth leaving the trans in the car, you can remove and replace the entire 5th gear in situ...

Yea I know that Powell, call me crazy but I don't think I should have to tear open a trans and fix it when it was sent to me built. This is the 2nd trans they sent me that was messed up.
