cant press back the brake piston

i just changed my brakes last saturday, front pads, and front and rear rotors. after i put on the rear rotors i tried to press the piston back with a spreader and couldnt get it back far enough maybe 1/4 inch or so, just enough to put a new rotor on with the old rear pads. the rear pads still have about 10000 miles left but i still have new pads and a problem. do the rear pistons spin in like fords, what am i missing here?

use a pair of needle nose pliers and turn while pushing in.

Yeah the rears have two indentions, you can use pliers like stated above or they have brake piston tools in a variety you can buy or rent at auto parts stores. You have to turn the piston (I'm assuming like the fords your talking about) I believe clockwise and they will go back in

Yeah, the same thing happened to me when I installed my powedercoated calipers. I couldn't figure out how to push it back... and then I found out that they twist!
