Exclamation Car is jerking while cruising or accelerating

So I have had this problem lately with my cobalt jerking while accelerating onto the highway or if I have it in cruise control and I have to travel uphill and it needs to accelerate. I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and/or if it is something i should get checked out.

My cobalt is a 07 auto lt.

Thanks in advance.

are you talking about accelerating from from coasting? if so it's normal.

Run some premo gas with some injector cleaner, and see if that helps

what would the gas he runs have to do with it?

If its normal then why did it start happening when it didn't at first?

cars do lots, and lots of different things. sometimes it's easy to overlook something that is normal. and then when it happens, since you didn't realize it happens, it seems liek somethings wrong.

like 4 years ago i had a 2.2, automatic. anyways, i was out somewhere and noticed when i stepped on the brakes the little button on the shifter moved around. freaked me the **** out, but it was normal. I just had nevr noticed it before.

i'm not saying this is def. the case, but it's normal to feel a little kick when getting on or off the throttle quickly. if you ease on or off the throttle, you won't feel it. but push the gas halfway down from a coast, and it will be there.

when it jerks, is it with fairly constant throttle position (for merging) or cruise? or is it more when there is a change in the throttle position?

i've noticed my ss doesn't always run smoothly in cruise - i think its attributable more to slop in the driveline/motor mounts, etc and the switch from coastdown to applied throttle which comes with cruise. you might be seeing the same thing, but i'd imagine that the torque converter would minimize to a degree.

next time its in cruise, listen to the engine around the jerk. an engine under load will sound different than a coasting engine. if its under load, that might be part of it.

or, to be more of a smartass, get your car a girl, so it doesn't have to jerk whenever you decide to put it on autopilot.

But like i said its more like easily accelerating than pushing it all the way.

To determine if the hesitation is engine knock. If the engine is knocking on regular fuel and not when running premo then the plugs way be fouled or have build up on them causing the knock. If the knock is gone due to a gas that is harder to ignite(higher octane) then that can be ruled out. Not to mention if its shell V power the gas has more solvents/cleaners in too... And if I'm wrong and my idea is complete BS whats trying gonna due??

And last time i used injector cleaner I remember it needed a higher octane gas.. i think..
