Clutch issues in 2010 models?

Hi everyone I'm new to to the site, I'm getting a new car in early june and it's coming down to a Cobalt SS, Honda Civic SI or Lancer GTS. I'm leaning towards the SS due to my family having loyalites to our chevy dealership and 2000 in GM points. I don't know much about cars other then the basics, but I just want a gorcery getter with a little bit of *****. So just one question.

Ive heard these cars(atleast in the older models) have a stiff clutch I live in Toronto and would turn me off a bit if that was the case. Also have been reading alot about clutch slipping etc. Regardless if this could be fixed by shifting around 3k would be another big turn off.

So I'm Just wondering if anyone can tell me if these are things that were are fixed in the new 2010 modles. thanks in advance.

If you can drive clutch dont slip. I pushed the limit on the stock clutch running slicks and cutting 1.8 60's at the track. Most of the people's clutch slip problems are they dont know how to drive. If your looking to get a little power and go with the stage kit or so power level you wont have problems period. Now get a SS and enjoy lol.

lancer gts doesn't belong....as it has 0 ballz

what ever you can get cheaper... si or ss will make you happy

08-09-10... all the same ****, other than 2010 has sunroof and rpd std... and a black radio...

clutch is fine... not understanding what you mean by shifting around 3k? Do you even drive manual now?

Yes lol, I'm driving a aveo hatchback 5 speed and I was refering to the sticky that talks about slipping and how it can be fixed by shifting at a higher rpm.

Get the SS/TC and you will be a happy man. My clutch slipped a little when new. Then again, I tuned it when it only had 3k miles. I guess it needed some break in time because I have more power now than I did then and it dont slip anymore. It holds VERY well.

Most peoples clutches slip because they have bolt- ons and aggressive tunes that push 380 lbs of wtq. Any factory sport compact clutch will slip with that much power.
