clutch probelm?
clutch probelm?
ok,, so in the last week this has happend 3 times and my car just hit 20k miles.. not a good week for me.. But anyway i'll go to put it in reverse and it'll grind real hard and kick out and my cluch is fuilly engaged? then i have to wait like 30 seconds and it'll work.. is my clutch goin,... tranny?
using another gear does not fix the problem. By putting it in another gear first all you are doin is using the synro of that gear to stop the spinning motion of the gear cluster. Also reverse doesn't have a syncro. well usually
The allowable time for the gears to stop spinning is about 8 seconds, so from the time you push in the clutch at idle to the point when it won't grind, anything less than that is normal. Either pop it in another gear first, or wait 5 seconds for the gears to stop after you push the clutch, before engaging reverse.
Or, pull it into reverse very quick, it will mesh if you do it right.
There are no reverse synchros in this car.
