The definitive word on the LSD

As most of you have ben hearing, the LSD is standard on the SS...period. A friend from another site emailed Mark Stielow for me (the guy who designed the suspension for the SS and is renowned for the cars he's built like the Thrasher camaro, the Mule and most recently Maltitude which is a twin turbo small block '64 Malibu) and Stielow told him the LSD is standard.

i really want you to be right, but all the magazines say they are not. it really would make sense to make it standard as it would be eaiser to produce a product with less options

i know what lsd stands for but what exactly does it do? just make the 2 power wheels turn at same speeds so no traction slip? or does it send power to certain wheels??

Question

Thats great news, are you really sure about this? I thought it was going to be part of the "performance package", but if it will really come standard then that is just awesome.

Keep us updated, it would be great to have the LSD without paying extra and getting the Racaros

I should reprase ......the SS s/c. That's directly what I was told but as usual check the order sheet carefully before ordering to make sure that if it is on there, you check it off. This is not a chain mail answer...someone asked the man himself on my behalf and that's the answer I got. Please don't hate me if he's wrong

I work at a Nissan dealership and a LSD comes STANDARD on the Sentra SE-R SPEC V...

2005 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V

Standard Features

* 175-hp, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine
* 6-speed close-ratio manual transmission
* Helical limited-slip differential

If Nissan can make this option standard, so can General Motors. Would make sense since it would make production of the vehicles a lot easier.

Like I said, check your option box to be sure but that's what I was told and the people I talk to aren't novices, they're grown men who are their industry leaders in the hobby and build 100K custom cars. I wouldn't intentionally mislead anyone just for a thread on Cobaltss.net, y'know?

Jeff emailed Mark and then wrote Mark's response back to me I hope this is a little reassuring.

Then again, gm does change it's mind pretty frequently..... who knows...

Don't believe everything you read, including here
No one, and I mean no-one can find an RPO option code for the Recaro seats and LSD. I don't think anyone will know for sure for another week or two here. Regardless of what I think I know and what the magazines say, it's ultimately up to GM. One can only hope as it would just make sense.

Guys/gals...just wanted to make sure I popped in and apologized for my misinformation. There's not much I hate more than people starting rumors but in my only defense I guess the designers of the vehicles don't always get what they want either. So, in a ploy to squeeze more $$ out of us, gm apparently decided to charge for the non-standard ss LSD and throw in some crappy looking seats while they were at it.

Sorry
